Frank Lampard will miss key Chelsea and England matches as he continues to recuperate from hernia surgery.

his recovery is taking longer than expected, but thats no suprise at 32. no massive loss to england but fairly big blow to chelsea, ramires lacks his guile and offensive threat

am I a ******* for being slightly pleased at this news? Chelsea looked a different side without Frank against Man City at the weekend which can only be a good thing for United fans, that is of course if we take care of our own business as well!

as Madsheep said, no loss for England, but for Chelsea yes . I think Ramires is still adapting to english football, cant hold up the ball too much ..

On topic again : hope he recovers soon, fantastic player

I'm gutted about this. I think he could have made a real differance against City and he'll be missed against Arsenal too. Have to agree its not a major blow for England though, probably a good thing actually.

You're a ******* anyway ;) (6)

As pleased as I am by the news, as long as Chelsea still have Drogba for the next match against Arsenal, we will lose.

I agree with pretty much everyone else. Don't see this harming England, although tbh I don't see it harming Chelsea too much either.

They've won 5 out of 6 games this season, and I don't think he would have made too much of a difference vs City on Saturday as City were sound defensively and didn't look too troubled at all.

Can see Chelsea beating Arsenal because of Drogba (again), and then beating Villa too. But will be a good test without Frank for the big games.

We were without Lampard for the West Ham and Blackpool games and we did alright. Mainly due to Essien playing really well in both. At City Essien had an off day which made people play the Lampard card. I thought he would have been back after the England match a few weeks back, hopefully its not delayed even longer.

to be fair west ham and blackpool are different propositions to city, where he certainly would have been more effective than ramires. Essien had an off day becuas he was having to be the main creator, not his strong point at all.

Of course he would have.

But if Essien had a good game no one would even be mentioning Lampard.

but he didnt and it was difficult see how he was going to given the defensive make ups of both central midfields, a game like that requires always a player like frank lampard. hik it may be a diffent story at arsenal, their offensive midfield will let the midfield game be more open

great news no for Drogba to get injured v marseille (6)

Drogba is banned for the Marseille game so he will have a whole weeks rest!!! I love Lamps alot but i didn't think we would miss him as much as we did on Saturday. We have some tough games coming up away at Villa soon also with the Arsenal game next sunday, and Ramires is still adapting to the English game which could take a little while. I would rather Chelsea make sure Lamps is fully fit so we can have him for the whole season.
