Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong is dropped from the Netherlands squad after his tackle broke the leg of Newcastle's Hatem Ben Arfa.

Fair enough .. at least someone has balls to do stuff like this .. can De Jong sleep at night ?

Was a poor tackle. I just think De Jong is an aggressive tackler, like its a part of his game.

De Jong instinctively goes to the nearest body part to the ball and takes it out. Do you remember when he studded Alonso in the World Cup final?

Haha. Thats a epic way of looking at it!

yes mate, I thought I was watching Street fight

In fairness, De Jong does look like one of those Malaysian Kung Fu fighting monks.

agression doesnt justify breaking a leg though, there plenty of agressive player who play the ball and not the man. he hits the man as much as he does the ball. what he is doing is not agressive tackling, its thuggery. he is a good player who should know better

By no means was I trying to defend him mate. Nothing in my opinion justifies breaking a leg in a football match. I just think that De Jong is a naturally aggressive footballer.

wasnt saying you were. But i feel that might be his excuse for the way he plays the game. Wenger might moan a lot but he is bang on about the tackling in this league, look at the injuries/tackles we've seen already

"Netherlands coach Bert Van Marwijk told the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper: "It was a wild and unnecessary offence.

"I have a problem with the way Nigel needlessly looks to push the limit." "

Respect. He is great player but doesn't need to be that aggressive.

karl Henry vs Joey Barton

On Topic - Wenger is going to pray that De Jong doesnt play against him

He is a thug. It is good to see that the style of football he is playing is not being encouraged by the dutch managment.

Although I think Karl Henry is worse.

But a sensible person will clearly analyse that there isn't an excuse for such tackles, regardless if the ball was there to be won.

totally agree. There is no defending that kind of tackle, clearly he has no regard for fellow footballers

If my memory of MOTD 2 serves me correctly, I believe Newcastle weren't awarded a free-kick either? Was he even sent off :S?

He wasn't even booked.
