Hello everyone, i'm just checking in if you guys would like to help me a bit :)

I am attempting to create wide 4-4-1-1 for Tottenham and since i'm not a tactical Wizz i was wondering if you could assist me a bit ^^)

Player role wise i will have a defence consisting of 2 central defenders and two full backs. I will be using BAE initially as the leftback and maybe buy a new player for the RFB. right now i am considering using the following roles: Support for the full backs as i dont want them runnig too far up the flanks but what are you guys opinions on roles/dutys for the central defenders? should i use a Cover and a stopper or a limited and a ball playing?

For the midfielders i will have bale and lennon on the wings and Modric and Palacios/Huddlestone in the central midfield. Roles and duties for this im thinking Wingers Attack for both wingers and for modric either Deep Lying Playmaker (support) or advanced playmaker (support) for Modric and ball winning (defend) for huddlestone/palacios. Any thoughts on this?

Then, i will have VDV as the AMC. What role would you recommend for him? Trequartista/Attacking Midfielder(attack) or something different?

And then as the lone striker what would you recommend? I am thinking a Poacher and then setting targetman supply under team instructions.

And speaking of team instructions, this is really where my biggest dificulties are. I am thinking i should play very wide to really get lennon and bale into play, but still have alot of passes going through modric. I dont want to be too attacking but still be able to play good football against weaker sides.

So, can anyone of you help me out achieving this?
Marks: I am not playing on the demo but playing retail fm11 but as far as i can see not much has changed. Additionally it would be great if you just assume that im not buying in something radical :) I will mostly be using the players avaliable in the team.

Thanks! Mads

Assuming that you have already tried these roles, what has not been working so far ? What kind of football are you playing ?

Well, i started the game the same time i wrote the new thread. I want to play a nice controlling game thats not too agressive. Seeing as im not a tactical genious (as alot of members on this forum) i was just looking for some pointers on the different sliders. Like how many ticks from the middle should passing/with be, should i play with a high or low defencive line and should i play rigidly or fluendly in order to have a solid tactic with a team like Tottenham.

Thank you :)

EDIT: What i dont see working so far (only played pre-season and 1 league match) is my striker. how do i set up a lone striker when im playing a 4-4-1-1?

You are talking about tweaking sliders but in my opinion, its better to use the wizard, only and when mastered it tweak the player instructions

When learning how to use the TC, by best advice is to create a new tactic chose a standard approach and balanced strategy and give the players the roles you suggested your self. After that I would make the following steps.

1.) play a lot of friendlies against equal opposition ( i.e no too weak teams)
2.) Play them in slow mode on extended highlights.
3.) Look at the stats, are some "roles" doing poor
4.) Use some of the shouts and when they have "loaded", have a look in your tactic and the players settings to see what they actually do.
5.) Switch strategy and/or passing style and see what difference this brings to the tactic and game flow

Yeah im guessing thats the whol thorough learning experience way of doing it :) How would you recommend setting up a lone striker in a 4-4-1-1? Because my striker is just not working at all. It can be either Crouchie or Defoe

I would set him up entirely different depending on if I was playing an aggressive but yet more defensive counter game, a controlling possession approach or a attacking approach using a lot of width.

My point here is that if you want to keep possession and slowly build up attacks, you don't want him to go for goal directly at all costs whilst this could be a great idéa when launching quick counter attacks. Have a look at the "Defensive Forward" role ( very much like Tevez in real life) for Defoe and the "Supporting Target Man " for Crouch. Just make sure that the Fc and the AMC is not stepping on each others toes, i.e don't use a deep coming and more defensive ( by mentality) FC along with an AMc playing as a second Forward in a more advanced position

I awlays have one centre back man marking one of their forwards, play Van Der Vaart free rold behind the strikers and often run with the ball
