How has the Southampton Manager done it?

Two promotions in two years, the Johnston's Paint Trophy, The Carling Cup, and in his time as England Manager - Runners up in the World Cup. Simon Vale has done it all. The Mirror will follow him, in Southampton's maiden voyage into the Premier League.

So what has he done?

He is in his 3rd year as Southampton Manager and in 2009/10 he guided Southampton to the following:
1st place in League 1 with 34 wins, 6 draws and 6 defeats.
Lost in 1st Round of Carling Cup against Hereford
Lost in 1st Round of FA Cup against Barrow
Won the Johnston's Paint Trophy against Leeds United

2010/11:
1st place in the Championship with 36 wins, 5 draws and 5 defeats
Won the Carling Cup against Liverpool.
Knocked out of the FA Cup 4th Round against Chelsea after beating Manchester United in the 3rd Round.

And to now -
Sitting pretty in 10th place of the Premier League with 2 games in hand on everyone else.
In the group stages of the Europa League
and the 3rd Round of the Carling Cup.

We think that with his amazing ability to pull rabbits out of hats practically, that Simon Vale will guide Southampton to greatness this year.

Immediate Press Announcement:
Sponsors

It is with great regret that Forex Trading (FX Pro) have decided to cancel there sponsorship agreement with us, they felt like Southampton FC was going in a direction that was not to the sponsor and club's mutual benefit, our Kit Makers Adidas have gone with them for similar reasons.

While we understand and respect the two companies beliefs and actions, we have to say we disagree with them totally, however we would like to thank them for the time they have spent with us, and wish both companies decisions totally.

New kits will be launched with a new kit supplier and sponsor sometime before the Europa League match against Shaktar Donesk.

Tickets are still available for the game, and we hope we will get as many fans as possible for our first game in the group stages of the Europa League this year.

Tickets have been reduced beyond League 1 levels with prices on Matchday at £15 adults, £5 concessions and kids, except in the family enclosure where kids under 15 go free!
