'The most famous name in English football is the target for the next wave of Arab invaders.

Across Manchester arch-rivals City are already owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group, led by billionaire Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Now Qatar Holdings, an *investment vehicle for the Qatari royal family, are pursuing the £1.5billion *takeover of Manchester United. The Gulf state of Qatar has already *landed the right to stage the 2022 World Cup finals in an audacious international coup.

Thoughts on this?

Personally it would be great to see us get rid of the Glazers, but I'm not sure if I'd want us to have unlimited money to spend like City, for the simple fact people would claim we bought the success that we've been earning all these years? So there's pro's and con's about this story definitely..

FFS the new man city i guess

It's a rumour from the Mirror, so don't take it for gospel. But I thought it'd be interesting to see the reactions from rivals/Manchester United fans about if it did happen..

oh, please god. if u make this happen, i will devote my time to ur teachings and spread the word of love and peace

the thing i believe is that even if we get millions to spend, SAF wont throw it down the toilet like Man City, plus hes never been big on handing out huge contracts, nor imbalance in the dressing room with big egos

WE WILL NEVER BE THE NEW CITY!

Don't really care about the amount of transfer fees that would be given by the Qatar royal family but as long as it wipes off the debts and shuts the stupid haters that claims Man Utd will be gone in a few years up I'm all good.

First it was Burma, now Qatar? Whats up with the Asian countries taking over United

It is the Mirror not exactly reliable.

Pretty much every club in English is being linked with a Qatari takeover. Easy headlines to sell papers, doubt there's much substance behind them.

I don't like the fact of all the money going around in football. I wouldn't really care if the person who brought city, was a massive football fan, but now, billionaires think it is cool to own a football team. The royal family want Man Utd to boost their world cup stuff, but I am sure, they don't like Man Utd. They just think they are a good team.

But I don't really mind, as Ma Utd always beat Spurs, so there wont be much of a difference to me.

We're one of if not THE biggest names in European football. They want to make a statement that Arabian football is happening, hence them buying the sponsorship on Barcelona's shirt (first time in their history as they were paying Unicef). It's a statement of intent, meaning they don't actually care about football or our club, they're just trying to make a name for themselves which is why I'm not too sure about the deal.

Burma vs Qatar = Man Utd bankcrupt already and they haven't takeover Man Utd. :p

Well if they do get taken over by these guys the papers will have a field day creating rumours about who United will sign for £100 million.

The only good thing i see coming out of this IF it is true, is no more debts, which equals no more of this green and gold, which, although the reasons are right for it, its costing united money, not much, but still some.:S SAF wont go around throwin the money around, but we wont have him forever, but probaly wont even happen XD

A few weeks ago, they were interested in Everton, Spurs and Newcastle, United is far more expensive than either of those clubs. Blue Bill would probably settle for around £100M, for EFC.

P.S - They don't need more money!!!
