"Good afternoon sports fans, today we have some exciting news for you on the vacant managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur. Earlier in the week we exclusively told you all about Harry Redknapps departure from White Hart Lane as he is to become half of what the English are calling the national dream team. Harry Redknapp will now become the manager of the English national team and will be working with none other than the icon that is David Beckham."

GYI0062659497_crop_450x500.jpg

One half of what the English are calling their nations new dream team.

"Today however Tottenham have announced that they will unveil one of five potential candidates as the new manager, there may be some suprise candidates in there but were sure that whoever Tottenham Hotspurs chairman Daniel Levy chooses will be a great choice. The candidates include.."

Martin O'Neil
Deon Mclain
Sam Allardyce
Martin Jol
Felipe Scolari

"So there you have it folks one of these lucky five people will sleep easier tonight knowing that their application for the job was successful and will wake up tomorrow morning as the Tottenham Hotspur manager. Thankyou for listening to 107.2 Allsports FM, It's a beautiful Monday afternoon in California, the time is coming up to 17.30pm and we have Rihanna's new song 'What's My Name' coming up after the ads..."

I was so excited...!!

The radio had just announced that Tottenham Hotspur were to unveil their new manager later today. The only downside though was that I was stuck in that rush hour the radio had warned us about. I did however have time to mull over who I thought would be the most ideal out of the five managers announced on the radio.

First they announced Martin O'Neil who would be probably the most obvious choice. His pedigree is immense and his calibre of coaching at times is second to none. He did a great job at Villa far exceeding their expectations at times. A good choice to select.

Next there was...

Deon Mclain who is a young manager learning his trade in the good ol' U.S of A. He has been popular with the fans in Kansas, as he has excelled in his role as Kansas City manager. He has been touted as a future USA international manager by the media.

Following on from there was...

Sam Allardyce who has been in the game forever and has always got the best out of his teams... With his only blip perhaps being his stint at Newcastle where he was controlled by what the Geordies can best describe as an evil tyrant running wild with their club. His Bolton team excelled extremely well and even made Europe. Blackburn who recently sacked Allardyce will miss Big Sam as he is a credit to any team.

A familar face could return in the shape of...

Martin Jol who would probably feel like he was back at home. Unlucky to have been given the boot first time around. Probably feels like he has unfinished business within White Hart Lane and would love to take them further. A media favourite and a top guy.

then there was...

Felipe Scolari

Luiz-Felipe-Scolari-001.jpg

Felipe Scolari wasn't my first choice on that list.

The Brazillian who has fallen from managerial grace after his Chelsea team took a nosedive down the English Premier League table. Before too much damage could be done though Chelsea quickly dispatched of the South American and hired within Europe again.

Felipe Scolari please don't become Tottenham manager.

As I arrived home I jumped out of my pickup and into my flat. I was eager to see if they had announced who was Spurs new manager yet. As I swung open my door I nearly crushed Biscuit (my labrador puppy) who jumped out of his skin at the sight of the door coming straight towards him. I leapt over the kitchen counter and almost did a mission impossible style manouvre but failed as I tripped over the coffee table. I quickly got up however, dusted myself off and switched on the TV...

"In the last few minutes it has been reported that Tottenham Hotspur have selected their manager, we will cross over live in a few moments to see who has been given the job. Daniel Levy has said that he thinks he has chosen the right man and that he is extremely happy. The fans who are yet to see their clubs new manager await on tenderhooks to see who it is.. Oh I'm hearing that we can cross over live and see who the new boss is... and it's none other than..."

Sky-Sports-News-006.jpg

BZZZZZOOF

Just then the T.V went off, I was left stood there dazed wondering what the heck was happening. Biscuit then emerged from behind the TV stand with a wire in his mouth. Luckily dogs can't understand the American language as he would have been stunned with the words that came out of my mouth.

I grabbed the wire and started shoving it in any crevass the back of the TV had to offer..

Nothing worked...

**** Dog

I lay back against the sofa Biscuit leapt up onto the coffee table. I sighed, "Come on Biscuit maybe the pubs got the footy news on"

Nice looking story... Hope it goes well. Try signing Javi Martinez.

Try Vaclav Kadlec and Eden Hazard. Former did a good job at newcastle and latter at l'pool for me.

I'd made it to the 'Lions Den' which was the name of my local pub, Biscuit was now totally knackered due to the fast jog. He would probably fall asleep at my feet like he usually did when we went on a jaunt to the pub. I grabbed a bottle of Bud and took my spot at the end of the bar which was usually reserved for me after a hard days work. I shouted in eagerness to Bobby who was an old boy who worked at the 'Den', "Turn on Sky Sports Bobby!"

Bobby turned on the TV and to my sheer frustration the adverts were on. "Take it you haven't heard who your new manager is then?" Bobby said inquisitively. "No, who got it?" I asked. "It was the American who manages Kansas City".

Bobby half smiled at me in a sly way as if to say 'ha not the best choice Tottenham Hotspur could have chosen'. It didn't bother me though. We had a manager and could now carry on with pre-season and more importantly the club could start business in the Transfer Martket.

I stayed about an hour at the pub making light conversation with Bobby about the football news which was on the TV.

Tottenham's new manager Deon Mclain had given a press conference about how pleased he was about becoming the new manager of such an illustrious club and that he couldn't wait to meet the squad. He stated that he would not change any of the clubs backroom staff and that he has already been told that their is money in the bank to spend. Although he didn't state how much!

Mclain also stated that although it will be hard to leave Kansas City, he felt he had done all he could there and thanked the staff, players and the fans for many happy memories. He added that his family were looking foward to the prospect of moving to London and that on all previous visits to the capital he has been treated with well and with respect.

Mclain closed by stating that he would be going on the tour of Australia with the squad but was yet to know either the opposition or the dates. Apparently Daniel Levy said he didn't have to travel due to the excessive amount he would already be doing as he is relocating from America to England. However Mclain asked to go.

It had been a about 4 weeks ago since I was last at the Lions Den pub where I watched Deon Mclain crowned the new Tottenham Hotspur manager. Recently I have been extremely busy with work and literally have had no time to catch up with how the club is doing and the latest news. I work as a Telesales Co-ordinator In a high rise building and have roughly 30 people to motivate to sell insurance. It's not that glamorous as i'm sure you'll agree and is very time consuming. Fortunately I have some annual leave from work now and plan to catch up with all of Tottenham Hotspurs pre-season news.

skyscrapers-4-sale.jpg

I work nearer the top of the building

I was excited as I clocked off from work (17:00 which was earlier than usual) and headed home to plonk myself in front of the TV. Luckily I missed all the traffic and made it home in record time. I made sure as I entered the flat that I made a fuss of Biscuit as I didn't wan't a repeat performance of last time when I sat down to watch Sky Sports and the TV was almost destroyed by my excited puppy.

sky-sports-news-ipad-app-logo.jpg

I switched on the TV with a corndog in hand and started reviewing Tottenham's pre-season. I was suprised and mainly pleased with the many transfers the club had made. I saw alot of which Deon Mclain had done as good business and was now definately looking foward to the upcoming season. The transfers had definately been well planned and there was certainly alot of them.

The first player to catch my eye was a player unknown to me, his name was Federico Fazio, he'd been signed for a mere £550,000 from Sevilla. I guessed he would be a fringe player due to his price and assumed he had an ok reputation again due to the pricetag. I am excited however to see what this youngman has to offer.

2mphf6c.jpg

A steal at £550,000 or cheap flop?

I had certainly heard of the second man Tottenham had signed. I had read about him in a magazine and was impressed with what I'd seen, it said how he has been touted as Europe's next big star and that he has talent other players would die for. It was none other than Javier Pastore who had arrived from Palermo but at a cost. It took £33,000,000 to prise him away from Palermo but with his reputation and talent bursting onto the scene lately I don't blame the Italian club for asking for such a high price. With such a large sum the Tottenham faithful will be hoping Pastore can make his mark at their club.

javier-pastore-palermo.jpg

Tottenham fans are praying Pastore can live up to his price tag

With such a massive amount of money being spent of the Argentinian youngster I knew it was inevitable that we would have had to have sold players to pay for him. It was lucky then that Deon Mclain had a wantaway superstar in his group of players. The superstar was none ther than Luka Modric who wanted to leave the London club as he was champing at the bit to join Champions League winners Inter Milan. Modric stated that although he loved it at Tottenham he owed it to himself to join the Italian Giants. After skillfull negotiations Deon Mclain and the board earned the club £18,000,000 from the transfer.

Inter-Galactic, Inter bound Modric salutes the London club

Another player to leave this summer was Roman Pavlyuchenko who never really captured the hearts of the Tottenham fans. His lacklustre attitude and failure to land a regular starting spot has also affected his reputation aswell. Due to this Deon Mclain must have been more than happy to do Business with Bayern Munich when they came sniffing around. Mclain and again the boardroom members thrashed out a deal worth £9,750,000.

155998657.jpg

Bye bye Pav. The Russian was never really embraced by the Spurs fans

I was pleased with the deals so far and was already looking foward to the upcoming season. I carried on watching and was made aware of more Tottenham transfers.

The next was young Roberto Pereyra who had been touted to be a great success for River in Argentina and will now hope the same things will be said over in England after he completed a £5,500,000 move to Spurs.

roberto-pereyra.jpg

Pereyra has big things expected of him

Another transfer that has been made was while Deon Mclain was already in Argentina. He was made aware that Fabian Monzon was available and quickly sealed the deal on a £3,200,000 transfer.

lucianomonzon.jpg

Monzon has strength in abundance

As if that wasn't already enough transfers the doors at White Hart Lane must have had to of been still revolving as others were still arriving and others leaving. The next player in was another young sensation, this time from Brazil. Paulo (Ganso) Henrique from Santos was next in and arrived after sealing a £15,000,000 transfer.

Ganso+Santos.jpg

Ganso will intrigue the Tottenham fans

Next in were two Youngsters from opposite ends of the globe. Young Connor Wickham from Ipswich arrived on a deal worth around £3,600,000. He will most likely go on out on loan Deon Mclain has stated.

wickhampic_2481427.jpg

Wickham will feature out on loan

The other youngster in was Lucas who arrived from Sao Paulo on a fee of £3,600,000. Not Much is known about Lucas but again i'm looking foward to watching him.

Lucas signs from Sao Paulo

Last but definately not least was Tottenhams most recent and last signing. Tottenham have managed to capture former Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko on a fee of £18,000,000. Mclain apparently was over the moon with the transfer and has now taken his team off to Australia to complete a pre-season tour.

Edin-Dzeko.jpg

It has also been announced that Tottenham have signed an agreement with Southampton to make the South Coast club the clubs feeder team.

Here is the rest of the Transfers out...

Robbie Keane - Liverpool - £4,800,000
Jermain Defoe - Liverpool - £7,500,000
Sebastien Bassong - Lyon - £5,000,000
Jermaine Jenas - Aston Villa - £5,250,000
Verdan Corluka - Werder Bremen - £5,000,000
Niko Kranjcar - Stuttgart - £5,500,000
Michael Dawson - Everton - £5,250,000
Giovanni Dos Santos - Porto - £6,500,000

Me too, I'm a Palace & Chelsea fan so I shouldn't be...but I am!!! Some great signings. I like the fact that you have sold as well as bought. So many stories involve a massive amount of incoming but none outgoing.

Good moves.

I was edging closer to the end of my week off, I had however got to see a few of Tottenhams pre-season games. The squad had flown out to Australia and were going to play against Sydney FC, Brisbane Roar FC and Perth Glory FC.

First class all the way

Now that I was free from work for a week I had caught up on pre-season events and was lucky enough to head down to the Lions Den to watch the games that were taking place down under. Luckily for me I know the owners of the pub and they let me stay during out of hours as the games were played at ridiculous times due to the time difference.

A brilliant start to pre-season which saw Tottenham rip through a distinctly average Sydney team. The weather wasn't too hot and the players looked like they enjoyed themselves. Aaron Lennon ran the legs off everyone and capped off his performance with two great goals.

Another class display from Spurs who again smashed another Australian side. So far it looks like Deon Mclain knows how to get the best out of his team, although the opposition so far doesn't match up to the Premierleague standard. Substitute Giovanni Dos Santos stole the show as he came off the bench to bag two goals.

Another solid display which saw Tottenham once again claim another Australian scalp. Record signing Javier Pastore scored his first goal in a Tottenham shirt as did Federico Fazio who looks like a bargain buy. Giovanni Dos Santos also scored but looks to be on his way out of the club as Deon Mclain looks to take advantage of the interest being shown in him.

It's certainly not long now untill the new Premierleague campaign where Tottenham will hope to at least claim a Champions League spot as they did under Harry Redknapp. With the likes of Man City, Aston Villa and the already aclaimed top four Man Utd, Chelsea, Aresenal and Liverpool this target will be no easy feat.

Tottenham will hope to at least progress through the group stages of the Champions League and should be able to with a talent bursting squad at their disposal.

Tottenham will look to at least the Quarter Final of the F.A Cup as a realistic target and will want to push as far as they can in the League Cup.

I hope i get the time to be able to keep up with the season and I'm sure like last season i will be spending alot of time down the Lions Den
