I thought I would post some of the things that I look for when finding staff in Football Manager! I have looked through the other threads and all I have found is a list of coaches to try and get and not what you should be looking for.

Firstly lets start of with a simple staff role "the Scout".

When it comes to looking at the stats of scouts their are three attributes you should be looking for and they are Judging Potential Ability, Judging Current Ability and Determination. You may ask why do scouts need Determination. For example if you send a scout to a region to scout without this they are not likely to go and search as much as they are not determined enough. The higher the stats in all these attributes the better the Scout should be. A Scout that has all three of these stats is Dave Parnaby although he is a Youth Coach:

Secondly we will now look at "the Physio".

For a Physio you should already know you need the Physio to have a High Physiotherapy attribute. The other attribute that a Physio I believe should have is a High Working with Youngsters attribute to help with the younger members of your team. A Physio that is suitable would be Giovanni Bianchi:

Next on the list is "the Assistant Manager".

Well for the Assistant Manager there are three main attributes to look out for and they are Tactical Knowledge, Man Management and Motivation. These attributes I believe are essential for any good Assistant Manager. While having these stats an Assistant Manager should also have good stats in the rest. A good example of an Assistant Manager would be Pat Rice:

Finally we have reached the "the Coach".

There are 4 main attributes any coach should have before looking at other attributes. The four attributes are Man Management, Level of Discipline, Motivation and Determination. The Coaches are unlikely to have full stats in all of these areas but they should have some what of a high rating in these areas.

Moving on to the other attributes it depends on what type of coach you are looking for. It is quite self explanatory for this area. The stats you are looking for in addition to above are Attacking, Defending, Goal-keeping and Fitness. I give examples of Different coaches are below:

Attacking Coach - Quintilliano Lemos Filho

Defending Coach - Valdir de Moraes

Goal-keeping Coach - Silvino Louro

Fitness Coach - Jose Mario Campeiz

Hope this helps anyone who needs it!

Please feel free to leave any feedback. Let the feedback be constructive.

Think it's the title, makes it sound more like someone needing help
Anyway I think you write about a shooting coach, first team coach and fitness coach.
EDIT: Oh wait, you already have fitness :S

Very nice thread mate, also you could use my list which is mentioned in my sig :)

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't know what to call this thread but I will update the coaches because I left out a few different coach types like Tactical, Technique and Shooting.

I have already seen that thread but I was trying to tell people about the certain attributes you may need to look for.

Yeah I agree Sid , you may want to change the thread name so you get more views on the thread , 'Help with Finding Staff!' sounds a plea for help.

Good guide. However scouts also require a high level of adaptability when sending them to foriegn countries, and level of discipline is also important for all staff. The Coach Calculator can be a helpful tool to see how effective a coach could be.

The four attributes are Man Management, Level of Discipline, Motivation and Determination.
Can you explain how does man management show in coaching as it doesn't alter the star rating of a coach? Thanks :)

Correct, Man Management isnt that important a stat for coaches mate, it is required by assistant managers more, but having it is a bonus as it is good for backroom advice. :)

Decent enough, but you missed out a whole bunch of important bits.

Adaptability is a very useful trait for scouts, as it allows them to settle in well when scouting in different countries or ones they're not familiar with. Determination and Motivation are important for Physios, and it is useful for ***. Managers to have high Level of Discipline and Determination ratings.

Again, Man Management isn't important for coaches, but you missed out Technical and Mental coaching attributes, the former of which is especially vital for shooting and ball control coaches.

Man Management doesn't alter a coaches star rating but it will help them to know how to "manage" a player. It just helps the training of what they are training.(if that makes sense)
