I'd try to buy Jorge Fucile, Shawcross, Sebastian Coates and Ilicic or Dzusdzak. Sell Kyrgiakos, Pousen and Konchesky. Give some oportunities to Martin Kelly, in my save he's a lot better than Glen Johnson.
Play Carragher and Agger. Jorge Fucile plays good both as right and left back. If you buy Shawcross, play him alongside Agger too. I won a UCL and they were the CBs chosen in European dreamteam of the year.
Play Agger on the left so he can use his favoured foot for passing ability (and play him as a ball playing centre back). Swap Meireles to a deep lying playmaker on defend and stick him on the left side with long shots set to often. Take it you have Suarez as an inside forward? You should do well to be honest with a formation like that.
Adam Johnson is great, but I don't believe he can buy him in the first season tough. I bought him in my third season only, and for a very high price. Anyway, now I have him On the right wing and Bale On the left, very letal.
