Middlesbrough clinch a £3.2m deal for Sparta Rotterdam striker Marvin Emnes.

well im glad we have signed someone at least! but a striker seems a bit odd as that is one of the few positions id say we dont need anyone! i hope we have signed him for the right wing though cos gareth has said he is rapid with good skills so maybe a good fit for the right, his scoring records not amazing and unless mido goes i dont think we needed a striker at all

rather put 3.2mil into a proper right winger or a midfielder or a keeper! but we shall see i guess...

Agree entriely sam. Read different things from different places about the position he plays, 8 in 26 last season in that division is ****, so hopefully a rw, because then its not that bad!

Hmmm right I can understand if he plays right wing then or something. Think Southgate is actually going to sign some good players this summer then?

Your so boring and predictable Sean... *yawn*.

hes scored 8 in 26(?) games, and he was prolly up front for most if not all of them. so i thin thats enough proof to say that he cant cut it as a striker int he premiership.

as for the right wing business...its a pretty bold thing to do to get a bad striker, whose bad at his orginal position and get him to play in another position!

admittedly 8 in 10 is quality, ive a couple of his goals which were pretty impressive, but thats barely enough to justify spending 3.2mill on him! tuncay was a beast in turkey and hes done **** here, now we're gettin a guy who hasnt proved that he can cut in the dutch league!

its a huge gamble, and i hope it pays off but how many times have we seen us gamble on some random striker and it backfire on us...

Disagree with Tuncay Murali.

First season in Eng, big expectations, 8 goals playing from all over the place, and bit parts in many games.

Also im 90% ssure Emnes will be played on the right wing.

"I am happy to play with either foot and my pace is one of my best assets, but I know I have to prove myself in English football and I am keen to do that. "I can play on the wing, as a striker or as a second striker - but my favourite position is just being in the team! If I am in the team then I am happy."

That is what he said, can play on the wing, either footed, and pace as a huge asset. Sounds good to me.

Admittedly seems a bit of an inflated price but Southgate hasn't done too badly with transfers so far (minus the Dong).
