Following recent controversy during World Cup qualifying, the World Cup itself and in numerous leagues around the globe, everyone has their own opinions on how football should be improved.
Whether it's the way the sports is organized, officiated or played, there are always different changes that could help and make football better for both fans and players.

Arguably the biggest problem in modern football is the business side of the game. Ultimately the fans are paying the price of clubs being taken over and owners spending huge amounts of money to try and be the best in the world, and that is through ticket costs.

Here are some ideas that I think would make the 'Beautiful Game' so much better -

Goal Line Technology - Quite possibly the most talked about issue in football today. So many goals are not given that should be, and vice-versa, and that would clear any doubts up. Tennis and Cricket both use similar technologies to great effect.

Video Replays - Not just for the goals, but for those off-the ball incidents, or marginal offside and penalty decisions.

Salary Cap - So many players are holding clubs to ransom. The cap has worked wonders in the MLS.

Replace Sepp Blatter - Probably the biggest problem in world football. Blatter may have made one or two positive moves for football during his long term in office at the FIFA Headquarters, his recent record of decisions and quotes has proven that he may not be the man for the job anymore. The main ones being the World Cup decisions of 2018 and 2022.

Mid-Season Break - So many continental leagues benefit from mid-season breaks, from the Med to the Scandinavian nations. The underachievers at the World Cup was England. A league without that mid-term break.

Stop Cards for Goal Celebrations - Very simple. Some players score goals once in a blue moon, and are restricted to how they can celebrate.

More Games on Free TV - Not everyone wants/can afford Sky. And many don't see the Premier League action without going to the pub.

Declare the Fees Behind Each Transfer - Almost every transfer nowadays is of an 'undisclosed fee'. With the corruption seen(ie Faurlin, Tevez etc), and suspicious moves(players moving for fractions of their value), this would provide clarity to many a fan.

Season and Matchday Ticket Prices - Cap them in accordance with the level of competition. Tickets are now priced extortionately, that the average man can barely attend his beloved team as much as he would like.

Kits Should Not Change Every Season - So many clubs change the home and away kits every season. At 50 quid a pop, this can become an extremely expensive purchase.

Simplify the Offside Rule - No arguments from anyone. t would have to be made very clear to players what is offside, but there should be no added rules as to what is onside and what is offside.

Lose the Away Goals Rule - So often it is seen that a first leg away goal settles so many great games. Instead of teams having to attack more, the rule has led to teams actually playing far more defensively in fear of conceding a goal which, despite a draw over two legs, could send them out of an important competition.

MAKE PLAYERS SING THEIR NATIONAL ANTHEM - It is awful when you see players stood whilst the anthem of their nation is playing, and they just stand there. There should at least be enough patriotism and respect shown by the players to sing the national anthem of the country that has given them so much.

Change WC Qualifying - Some people have suggested a two-stage European qualification competition for example, giving smaller nations like San Marino another round before having to play the "big guns" of European football. It would give them more of a chance to pit themselves against teams their level and would stop embarrassing results with each international break.

Concentrate on Grass Roots -So many talented kids give up the game due to lack of organised events and so on for them to attend and help them progress. Look at USA. The college sports are up there with the NBA, NFL and NHL in terms of ratings etc.

Enough of my ramblings....what do you think FIFA/UEFA/FA could change or introduce to make the game better?

Remove Arsenal FC.

On a serious note, I think that the Salary Cap was the best idea mentioned. It would stop teams like Manchester City simply outbidding clubs and offering astronomical amounts for fairly average players. Its ruining the game

You could even extend it to a Transfer cap, where bids can only be up to *** amount, so clubs cannot ask ridiculous fees, and clubs wont pay silly money for players.

I disagree you aren't forced to buy them

What about the many fans who want to wear their clubs colours, and the latest kits. In Spain, kits cost 70-80 euros, which is half a weeks work for many.

Exactly. Too often nowadays are clubs simply driving up the fee for players because more than one club is involved. For example if Man City get linked with a player his value will often go up as they believe they can get more money for him.

I would say Release a New Home Top Every 2 Seasons
The Summer a new home top doesnt come out, put out a new away
Use Last seasons away as this seasons third

:)

I agree with all your points, especially salary caps, goal line tech, video replays and more free games. Clubs are offering ridiculous money to players and it's just not right. Goal line tech is NEEDED, and video replays wouldn't hurt. Plus my dad can't afford Sky Sports. When I get my own house/flat maybe I could but really more Premier League games need free viewing..

Would disagree with the Kit's issue as for most teams it provides a vital injection of money to the club. Bringing in probably millions of money that could be very much needed. Most kits are normally about £30 anyway if you do your research (e.g. Sports Direct)

That would be a happy medium I think, then the club gets the cash and the fans are not paying through the nose.

Arsenal usually do this with thier kits but because of our 125th aniversary they are putting out a sentenery home for next season

Clubs wouldn't sell their players then, simple. If a club wants to be stupid and pay extortionate amounts it's their loss. Look at United they continuously pull of bargin signings (C.Ronaldo, Hernandez are just a few quick examples) The inflated market does not effect everyone, only for the very best players that are already at full potential.

Independent match review/disciplinary panel - I'm sick of diving as much as everyne else is. Retroactive punishments are in order with the amount of TV scrutiny available. Players play acting is disgusting and needs to be punished. You are men act like one. Conversely rtroactive punishment for unpunished fouls (see Adam on Bale that desrved at least a yellow)
Move the penalty spot back - Too many layers go to ground easily in the box, because scoring from the spot is nearly a sure thing. Even the odds a bit for the contest between the keeper and the PK taker by giving the keeper a little bit more of a chance to react. It becomes a contest of skill rather than an calculated guess
Make U18's and reserve cup comps mean something - Money for the kids and the clubs, not every kid has a million dollar contract lined up and not every club is loaded. we're not talking multi million pound prizemoney though.
Fewer International friendlies but more or longer National team training camps - Friendlies don't mean squat. it's a bit much to expect players to gel in the national team after not playing together in the short time framethey have.
Improve the Europa League revenue- Too many teams don't give a **** about it because there isn't enough money to make it worthwhile (I think the prizepool is rougly 1/10th od CL). From an international perspective The Asian Champions League and CONCACAF championsleague could do with a boost as well. From what I've read the prizemoney for the fixtures doesn't even cover the costs of holding the fixture for the home team.

Salary Cap, Replace Sepp Blatter
I have so much faith in FFP so salary cap takes care of itself.

And also only captain should be allowed to talk to ref. Any other player trying to hound or waving imaginary cards should be sent off no matter who the player is.

Video review after the match so that diving and faking injury can be delt severley.

This is for English football: Scrap the reserve league and make a B team so that they can play competetive football from young age which helps a lot for their development.

I agree with almost all except "Stop Cards for Goal Celebrations" and "More Games on Free TV". The crappy goal celebrations which take ages should stay out of the game. A player shouldn't feel the need to flex his muscles by taking off his shirt, just play the **** game guys :)

And Sky Sports pay for the rights and you can't just take it away from them unfortunately. I completely agree on removing Sepp Blatter and making some goal line technology which tbh I don't think we can get with Sepp controlling the ship.

Those two players turned out to be bargains, but Ronaldo and Chicharito were not exactly cheap buys. Think, it would stop ManCity and Chelsea snapping up any half decent player for x amount, just to stop the rest of the league buying them.

Agree with all but the PK one. Penalties are not a sure fire. There is a lot of nerves and accuracy required to take a penalty.

B team. Something I think I mentioned before somewhere. I would love to see that, it works so well in Spain and Germany.

Like I said, some players score two or three in a 15 year career. You are telling me if you scored that many in that length of time, that you wouldn't go nuts when you hit the net? Precisely my point.

As for football on TV. There are very few who don't want it on free TV. Not everyone wants/can pay 30 quid a month.

I might not have played on a professional level at all. But before I turned midfielder I only scored 3-5 goals competitively in 5 years. I barely even celebrated, I put my fist in the air and ran back on our half.

And you still don't have to pull up a corner flag or take your shirt off to celebrate a goal. Just celebrate at your fans without taking too long.

Salary Cap

There are ways around it

Replace Sepp Blatter

And Platini

Mid-Season Break

No
Quite the opposite - get rid of it everywhere

Declare the Fees Behind Each Transfer

Hardly matters

Season and Matchday Ticket Prices

Supply and demand, mate
If attendance drops, prices will drop too

Kits Should Not Change Every Season

Worst idea ever
Half the clubs around the world will go bankrupt

Change WC Qualifying

Nonsense
Only the best should play on the world cup
I don't need to see amateurs there

Now, some ideas

Lose the one point for a draw - If you don't win, you don't get points. It's that simple. Should put an end to teams just defending for 90 minutes

Mandatory, capped min fee release clauses - To deal with clubs overcharging for players

Goal Line Technology - On the fence about this, although it would make the game fairer it does give people a topic to talk about

Video Replays - Not for me, the game is special in this way and should be kept this way. If we are going down this route then refs will be replaced all together.

Salary Cap - It would have to be a world wide thing because if we only did it in the PL then we would lost all our top players to other clubs world wide. But its somthing i think needs to be done, clubs world make more money and in the end ticket prices would go down etc etc.

Replace Sepp Blatter - Has to happen massivly, not just him but Platini too. All of Uefa needs a overhaul and start again from scratch.

Mid-Season Break - Although i love the festive football period as a fan i think the players would massivly benefit from having a break and it would be to a benifit to the national side too.

Stop Cards for Goal Celebrations - One of the worst rules in football, i know for a fact even refs dont like booking players for this.

More Games on Free TV - Unfortunatly if you do this then clubs will recieve less money from TV revinue. Sky own the PL and its just the way things are today.

Declare the Fees Behind Each Transfer - Its not a massive problem but it would be nice to know the full fee if your nosey.

Season and Matchday Ticket Prices - If the salery cap rule comes in then teams would be able to drop their prices. Also if terrecing was allowed back in the UK then teams could get a few more thousand through the gates and could charge less for more.

Kits Should Not Change Every Season - Another one that could be solved with a salery cap and terrecing.

Simplify the Offside Rule - Very complicated part of our game but it needs to be re-written again to its simplist form.

Lose the Away Goals Rule - I like the away goal rule, it gives the away side more insentive to attack because they know it will massivly benifit them.

MAKE PLAYERS SING THEIR NATIONAL ANTHEM - I absolutely hate it when i see players not sing the anthem. A certain Wayne Rooney and i believe Ashley Cole too never sings it and it ****** me off like ****. Its almost as if they are embarrased to sing it because they are hollyier than thou.

Change WC Qualifying - The WC is for the best nations in the world simple as that. If you qualify then you deserve to feature simple as that.

Concentrate on Grass Roots -Somthing more needs to be done but its hard. Where i live they have just taken down the goals on the field for the summer and grown over the lines. But when kids go out and cause trouble etc they complain but what else are they ment to do when they have nowhere to play football.

Get back the golden goal rule instead of so called "silver goal - extra time"
