I really struggle getting performances out of attacking midfielders. I'm into the 2018/19 season with Spurs. I've had Modric, Van der Vaart, Douglas Costa, Milan Badelj, and now Pastore. Van der Vaart did get me a lot of assists, but I've read a lot of people on here saying about the amount of long range gaols he scores for them, in the 5 seasons I had him he managed less than a handful so I finally let him go. Modric had fairly decent performances, but when I was offered £30m for him I grabbed it and haven't looked back. At the beginning of this season I signed Pastore for £18.5m and so far (December) he's been largely disappointing. I've tried playing him at the top of the diamond as an attacking midfielder and advanced playmaker, but he's averaging less then 7 out of 10 a game. I think I will try him as an inside forward next. It just seems that I really struggle to get good performances out of decent midfielders. The only player who was good for me was Krancjar. I played him as a left midfielder and he's been one of my most consistant players, actually preferring him to Modric.

For the majority of the first 6-7 years it's been 4-4-2 or 4-4-2 diamond, with Bale on the left, Krancjar inside left, Palacios as a ball winner and Lennon on the right. But Modric or Van der Vaart also played a lot in the middle. Currently I have Bale on the left, Palacios or Sissoko in the middle, Pastore or Badelj just behind the forwards and Lennon on the right.

well maybe he isn't blended into the squad yet, thats a mayor factor.
maybe u should stick to 1 role and play around with his individual instructions like creativity freedom or mentality,

I will admit in the past I have been known to fiddle around to much, but this has not been the case with Pastore. I started him off as an advanced midfielders but very quickly realised he should be an attacking midfielder. Straight away he improved a little bit, but has not carried on improving as he should.

In 2018 their should be lots of world class South American regens, sign them up! Who's your strikers?

In the time I've been at Spurs I've had success with Defoe, Keane, Tevez, Balotelli, Fletcher, and now Babacar and a brilliant 18 year old Brazilian regen banging in goals. I also have about 4 attacking midfielder regens coming through but not quite ready yet.

i know i once calcuated the best role for pastore when hes in his prime and at advance playmaker he was around 18.5 or so which is legendary, considering messi's best role is terquatista 17.5 or so,

I have Pastore at spurs as a Attacking Midfielder - Attack, and he's doing great. Scored 12 in his first season after arriving in January. Second season he's been less prolific, but has been injured. Just keep playing and, and praise his good perfomances, tell him you have faith before games and at half time etc, he'll soon hit form

What formation are you playing and what role is Van der Vaart playing?

As above, 4-4-2 or 4-4-2 diamond. A lot of the time when I was playing VDV was as a right midfielder, but also as an advanced playmaker or attacking midfielder.

Pastore's is underperforming for me too. Got him to £10.5m and he gets below 7/10 on ratings. his first season was amazing, but now he plays bad and just gets the ball to blast it anywhere.
