I started a game with my mate a couple of weeks ago and I went Man City but failed to win any trophies in the first 2 seasons... The third season in I created a 4-4-2 (Diamond) tactic and I won the quadroople in the 3rd season.
It is a balanced attacking tactic with a deep defensive line and a narrow width, I haven't used it with any other team so I don't know how it would work for small teams but feel free to give it a try and let me know...
Roles:
LB- Full Back(automatic)
DCL- Defender (cover)
DCR- Defender (stopper)
RB- Full Back(automatic)
DMF- Defensive Midfielder (defend)
MCR- Advanced Playmake (attack)
MCL- Central Midfielder (support)
AMC- Attacking Midfielder (support)
STL- Complete Forward (attack)
STR- Poacher (attack)
For examples on who to play where just look at the pic of my tactics at the bottom
Tips:
When first applying the tactic set match preparation to very high and team blend until everything is fluid then set it to average and attacking movement.
Always use 'ask assistant' in opposition instructions at away games and in big games if you wish but its not necessary if you are at home (always have the strategy set to attacking even in away games... if you're team are performing badly with opp instructions on just leave them off and don't use them), always use 'ask assistant' for team talks before every match, at half time and at the end... for people with a match rating of 8.5+ just manually tell them you were delighted or whatever.
If you're 1-0 up with 20 mins to go and you feel you are struggling set your strategy to 'Contain' and put on:
*Retain Possesion
*Pass to Feet
*Stay on Feet
*Play Even Safer
If you are down 1-0 and in need of a goal set it to 'Overload' and put on:
*Get Ball Forward
*Push Higher Up
Last of all... Set pitch size to smallest

Strikers stats (who shared 127 goals between each other)...
End of season standings/nisc (my mate is chelsea)...
