hoping someone can help me with tactics please much appreciated :)

I'm currently in my 2nd season with Newcastle. In my first season we finished 4th so qualified for the CL. The first signing I made was Cristian Benitez for £2m and Garra Dembele for £425k. I could've probably got Benitez for less but really didn't want to miss out on getting him. I also managed to sign Varane who fitted straight into central defence alongside Taylor. At the start of the 2nd season I managed to get Kranjcar, Yuri Zhirkov and Adam who are great signings. It might also be an idea to get backup for your fullbacks. I play 4-4-2 with Jonas steaming down the right, and Zhirkov on the left. I just let Jonas run all game long. He's not got the greatest stats for crossing, so tell him to get to the byline. I started off with Lualua on the right doing exactly the same, he started off brilliantly getting loads of assists, but then fizzled out. The main problem I was having was getting my defence right. I was trying the Stopper/Cover tactic but after a season and a half I decided I wasn't happy with it, so have changed to Defend/Defend which seems to be working quite well. I reckon in my 3rd season I could be challenging for the title.

A 4-5-1(DM) or a 4-2-4 are the best two tactics for Newcastle. Sit Tiote as a Def mid in the DMC, and a box-to-box(Nolan/Cabaye, depending on updates), and then Advanced Playmaker(Ben Arfa) next to B2B in CM, Jonas and a RW as inside forwards(support), and a quick striker as a poacher up front.

Hi im currently playing as arsenal in a 4-2-3-1 (CM) formation going forward my team is pretty good not amazing but we get plenty of CCC's but at the back we are really weak, my CM's roles are Ball winner Def with a fairly def mentality little creative freedom and closing down is in the middle, my other CM is a box to box with a more def mentality which was an attempt to sure up the def my full backs are set to support but are a couple a clicks away from defensive mentality i play a fairly high line and a fairly narrow width (to help with possession play) my issues seem to be that any through ball if its down the flanks or center seem to just by pass my def leading to a fairly easy shot on goal just wondering what people would suggest to try and fix this i have tried the stopped cover def partnership but have never been able to perfect it, thanks in advance

When I was managing Spurs Stopper/Cover worked quite well for me. I don't think I perfected it, but it was pretty tight, and won the league 5 times in 9 years, plus the Champions League. I defended deep, with my covering defender told to close down to own area, while the stopper set to between edge of area and the halfway line.
