So I'm entering the 5th season, currently managing Man Utd. I've been using the 4-2-2-2 tactic for quite some time now and it seems to suite my players very well. However occasionally (when playing away from home with low reputation teams such as Stoke and West Ham) it might fail so I switch to a 4-1-1-2-2.

So far I've won 3/4 Premier Leagues
3/4 Champions Leagues (and lost this year's final to Man City)
1/4 League Cups (lost 1 final)
1/4 FA Cups (lost 2 finals)

Last year i averaged around 102goals in the PL, alternating between Rooney, Hernandez and Macheda up front.

What do you think about it?

Now for the 4-1-1-2-2

I do play with a quicker tempo using this kind of tactic and it doesn't hurt to slightly drop your frontline.

Another important aspect to this is to have your own training schedule assigned to your players as well as top coaching and staff. Here is my starting line-up. However most of my Utd first team players are all roughly the same standard and I alternate quite frequently between players:
