My Gloucester save

I decided to challenge myself again with FM2012. I chose Gloucester (because of the 7k stadium!) but this time I selected to not have real players, so all random and fake names. I got a less crappy *** man as his stats are:
Mental - 10,12,8,8,10,2,11,9
Coaching - 1,7,7,6,7,6,8,10,9

So he only has an 8/8 for scouting actual and potential leaving me to scrutinize all possible transfers. I wanted to find Simon *** (wonderful CB) in this game but I can't seem to find his fake counterpart.

I have had one playable youth with the rest being the greyed out generated players, two reserves (one is quite poor) and the rest of my senior team. I've shifted everyone to senior team and leave the youth and craps to play reserves to stay match fit. I'm still about $140 in the clear and have been scheduling friendlies with both major teams like Burnley, Hull, and Blackpool as well as playing obscure teams like TSN and others to rape and get moral higher.

I've been playing with a 4-3-3, with two center mids and a def mid, two wingers and a striker. So far I've only tasted one defeat but have been scoring quite often and best thing is I'm not leaking as many goals as I expected. I play attacking mentality with shouts of retain possession, hassle and stay on feet. I tweak the system minimally depending of in my guy is a winger or inside forward, wingback or fullback, but leave the general shape as is.

Granted, winning BSN/BSS isn't rocket science, but in FM11 I've always leaked goals like mad. This save I've tightened up quite a bit.

So far, I've liked the game. However, one thing I cannot stand is when I play elevated camera with game speed at full throttle it looks like the camera is having a seizure whenever it hits either end of the pitch. This never happened in FM11 so hopefully SI will look into it. I'm rather fond of that view :(

I'll post stuff every once in a while here as my game continues :)
 
There is a major bug with gloucester, after 1.6.2012 you go to the old stadium acording to the game but that will be the same stadium as cheltenham just like you play now so that kinda messes the game up with 2 of the same stadiums, same location, and dont know what capacity. I quit and started over with other team
 
Well, here's the report after six months:

We are 5th place with 35 points. We are tied with 1st place Hinkley in amount of goals scored with 41, and I am the best defense in the league with only 9 goals conceded.

The first 4 months it was a dream start for us, with each win by more than 2 goals kept our moral sky high. Every game we went to, our arrogant swagger conquered all before us until....

INJURIES!

Ever since my defensive midfielder got crocked with knee injury for two months, it has been a down hill slide from there. Good bye games of 5-0, 6-1, 4-0, 3-0, hello loss and draw! I've done what I can to stop the moral from hitting rock bottom, and we've got a decent run so far, but its nothing like the early part of the season with our all conquering style.

Ever since the injuries started creeping up, I've been harassing teams for loans. So far I have 6 players on loan, but sometimes even they get crocked for lengthy periods of time which is most disconcerting.

I don't mind not being promoted to BSP this season, but I do worry about my budgets. Our FA cup and trophy runs have garnered us some cash, but our average attendance is a measly 320ish. Boston United, who is 20th has an average of 1100 per game! Bastards.

If I can start getting more people to come for home games, I'm sure our financial situation will start mending, but as things are going, we are going to be losing many players since I cannot afford their contracts and I do NOT want to be in the red for player salaries.

In short: Things are proving challenging, but hopefully by end of season we can have a positive response.
 
Second part of the first season, the arrogant bastards are back !!!!

Oh, how I missed that swagger and all conquering team I had in the beginning.

After sitting down with the team via team meeting, I told them straight up their attitude needed to change, and lo and behold, it worked!

Worked our way through the FA Trophy, semi final game with Havant & Waterlooville. First game was away. They scored a quick goal and we were looking shell shocked. After a while, we settled into our rhythm and managed to fire one back. Half time was 1-1. Told the players to go kick some ***.

Second half HW play some sexy moves and carve up my defense, 2-1. Looked at my tactics and changed my DM to def mid, support and tweaked a few things. Pretty soon we level from a corner, 2-2. Looking good, but don't want to concede any more goals, so I switch to contain for a while, but as soon as I did this HW piled up the pressure. WIth little choice, I switched back to attacking and almost instantly we score two goals within 5 mins. 2-4.

Second game is in our home. We have a cushion, but can't afford to get sloppy. They were dangerous in the first game and my injured players were ready for home turf pillaging. Things couldn't get any better. A red card for them in the first 15 mins, I had my top three go to attacking and they just tore them up. Final score 6-1.

We made it to the FA Trophy finals, our opponents would be Hyde. And they were favorites. WTF? They were 15th in BSN rankings! I paid no attention to the odds, after we pretty much dominated the league. My loan players were paying dividends in gold. Final game, I threw everything and the kitchen sink. Push high, attack, screw defense, we are going to massacre them.
Hyde got pummeled with a 7-1 hiding at the hands of Gloucester. We destroyed all.

How I managed this incredible turn around for the second half of the season was look at very high leagues and harass them for loans. Got quite a few L2-L1 players and I didn't have to pay any wages to boot. RB, LW,RW, ST, MCL and DCL were all loans for 3 months each. I had to shuffle things around to keep the max of 5 loans per game, but it was well worth it. With over 100 goals scored and only 33 conceded in all competitions, I think I did ok with these loans :) Could that be construed as cheating? Probably, but dammit, I needed the cup money!!

Come end of season, the loan system suddenly turned for the worst and one of the loaning teams plucked my best striker. My *** man only pegged him at 4.5 stars so I was hoping to sell him after BSP, but apparently the L1 team saw something in him. Since he was already tied to a contract until 2014 and I slapped a huge price tag on him, they offered something far less, but still substantial. My stupid chairman felt it was too good to pass up so, behind my back, my striker was sold off. ****** ******!! At least with the funds I should be able to build a youth academy....

So after the first season, we are well in the black, with a cup and league trophy to our credit. I picked up a scout 7/12 JA/JP to start looking for under 18's for me to pimp. I'm thinking stay BSP/L2 for a good while, build up rep and make enough money to start upgrading all the facilities. The frustrating thing was, after all that *** kicking, our max tickets were only 400 for two games. I need to figure out how to start filling the stands...

I had to quit this save because the bug still hasn't been fixed in 12.0.3 :(

I will start a Boston Utd game now that I know they get plenty of people in the stands :)
