Evening guys, I'm just wondering if it would be possible to take teams from the Welsh League to European success? I've just started up a game playing as Neath and realised that the prize money for the competitions are absolutely dire. I'm going to carry on with the game and see what I can do, but has anyone managed to take a Welsh team on to big things?

Cheers,
Cal

I'm doing something similar in the irish prem with shamrock rovers. It hard to get any real talent but I got to the 1st stage knock out stages of the champs league got battered :( but i reckon over a few years ill be able to do it :) so i don't see wales as too far off :O

Cheers for that, glad to know someone's made some headway with teams from naff leagues.

Just had a bit of a shock with the EURO Cup... Due to the home-grown players rules I need 8 players in the who have trained in Wales for at least 3 years (I have 23), and 4 that have trained at Neath for 3 years between 15-21...I have 1... Can anyone offer any advice as to what I could do please?

You will have to register some of your youth squad. I did a save as Port Talbot back on FM10 with the same goal as you, try and turn them into a dominating force in Europe. It took me almost 5 years to make them worthy of qualifying for Europe. And then would get whipped. Although when you can consistently reach the group stages of either Champions League or Europa League, then the prize money id fantastic and it is possible to start building a good squad that can challenge. Unfortunately, I got fed up of the constant failure and the Board refusing to increase my stadium (how can you possibly challenge when you only have a 15,000 stadium, which I couldn't even fill!) so I left to join Atletico Madrid.

Thanks! It's a shame my youth squad sucks...Annoyingly, they're all greyed out too. Guess I'm going to have to scour the ranks and see if anyone's vaguely worthy.
At least you managed to get it up to 15,000, Port Talbot only have about 6,000 capacity IRL.

Calientez, I managed them for almost 30 seasons! I think towards the end I was getting average attendances of about 9k or 10k. I'd hoped that it would improve quicker than that, but then I guess IRL the town has a pretty small population. My advice, be prepared to invest lots of time into the game!

Th-th-th-th-th-th-irty!?! ****... I'll stick it out as long as I can bare it :)
Messithegreatest - I'd be Cardiff, but only to have them relegated to League One. My flat mate is from North Wales and would love to see the Bluebirds go down in flames :p

Just had a read of the TNS story...I was hoping for a slightly faster progression, but it IS the Welsh League and is rated about the same as the Croatian 3rd Division North :p
I'll give it a bash and see how I do. I'm focussing on getting a couple of left-sided players in at the moment as there is only one player in the default squad that can play on that side (and he sucks).

Iesu Grist! (Jesus Christ in Welsh)
Just been through my youth ranks and signed the players with the least sucky stats and they've some up as 1/2 star potentials...I think this is my cue to knock on the chairman's door and ask for youth investment :p
In other news, I've been drawn against Tromso Idrettslag from the Norwegian League in the EURO Cup 1st Qualifying Round.

Just spoken to the board...they said "Although we agree with your reasoning, we simply cannot find the funding for this at present."
...That sucks

in theory you could though it would take a long time, as the leagues have dynamic rep now if you were to get through to the knock out stages eventully your league and club rep would rise and you would get better qual players interested in signing for you

Doing the same thing with Port Talbot (my most local team in the Welsh League). Its not an easy feat but im top halfway through my first season and my left mid plays for the Angolan National team lol.
