Serious Error, Crash Dump on Startup

Well, I purchased the game and downloaded via steam yesterday. Since then, I have spent the best part of 5 hours trying to get the game working. I have not yet played a minute of the game. The error seems to be common but yet none of the solutions have worked for me. I have Windows Vista and have never had a problem installing a game before untill this.

Upon trying to load the game the following message is displayed: "Serious Error has been encounted, crash dump, etc...."

Now I have trawled through the internet trying to find a solution and I still have had no success. I have tried the following:
- Graphics Drivers are up to date
- DirectX up to date
- .Net files up to date
- Verifying integrity.....multiple times.
- Complete reinstall of FM12 and Steam several times
- Deleting the dump files.

It is driving me up the bend as nothing seems to make a bit of difference. One valid point that seems to happen to me that noone else seems to have mentioned is that after this error occurs, Steam attempts to "Complete Installation" at which point a message comes up saying that Steam Servers are too busy to handle my requests. (41).

Can somebody please help me. Much appreciated.
