NOTE: Changes have been made to the game using the Editor. These include changing the names of competitions and awards (eg. ECC to UCL), changing Roberto Di Matteo's role as Assistant Manager of Chelsea to First-Team Coach, adding Sam Hutchinson to the game. If there are any more I spot worth noting I will add them to this note.

Some stories based on real life may not be entirely true for the sake of the story.

Ancelotti sacked by Blues

Chelsea have dismissed manager Carlo Ancelotti, and the Italian will leave the club immediately.

The news of Ancelotti's sacking comes just two hours after Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, and the club have released a statement:

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm Carlo Ancelotti has been released from his contract at the club. The club wish to thank Carlo for his efforts during his two years at the club, and for guiding Chelsea to their first League and Cup Double a year ago. However, this season Carlo has fallen short of expectations and the club feel it is best for both parties if Carlo were to depart. We will now look for a new manager."

Villas-Boas leaves Porto

Andre Villas-Boas, the overwhelming favorite to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as Chelsea manager, has vacated his position as manager of Porto, paving the way for a move to Chelsea.

Since Chelsea sacked Ancelotti in May after a season which did not live up to expectations, Villas-Boas has been continuously linked with the managerial post at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea appeared to have to pay an extortionate amount of money to release the Portugese manager from his Porto contract, however, in similar fashion to Carlo Ancelotti in 2009, Andre Villas-Boas seems to have left his employers to join Chelsea.

Villas-Boas was a scout at Chelsea whilst Jose Mourinho was manager of the club, and this season completed a quadruple of trophies at Porto.

Welles appointed manager

Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Ben Welles is the new manager of the club.

Welles, 38, will take charge of first team affairs immediately and the club wish him well. After two months of looking for Carlo Ancelotti's replacement, the club feel in Welles we have a great manager who has shown great knowledge of the game and of the club, and we hope he can take the club forward.

Ben Welles played for Chelsea from 1992 to 2008, and was part of the team managed by Avram Grant who reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2008, which was his final game for the club. Welles won two Barclays Premier League's whilst playing for the club, as well as three FA Cup's, three League Cup's, two FA Community Shield's, one UEFA Super Cup and one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. He went on to make over 550 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 103 goals, having spent his entire playing career at the club, and was capped 39 times by England, scoring 4 goals.

Since retiring from professional football, Welles has been a part of the Chelsea back-room staff, monitoring the progress of the academy players and had taken up the role of club ambassador.
