Spurs 3rd Season , had Cardozo and Jermaine storming the scoring charts with Niang Mbaye as a sub, took a punt in January on Carroll , tried my best to get anything out of him and finished 4th with the big plonker contributing 1 goal and 3 sendings off!!!!

So, has anyone ever got anything outa him?

I played 1 season with Liverpool and I tried to get something out of Carroll, but as he didn't perform I dropped him and played with one lone striker (Suarez)

I've played several saves as Liverpool and I always end up selling him the next transfer window.
I can't get him to work at all.

I'd imagine that Carroll would score quite a bit if you used him in a good corner setup (rather than using a CB like everyone else), but he is a very one dimensional player both in game and in real life. Part of the problem seems to be that the traditional winger and target man style of play just doesn't ever work in FM (I've yet to see it function as effectively as other formations), meaning players like Carroll are pretty much useless in the game.

Ive seen one headed cross since ive been playing this, seriously one!! Think it was Dzeko and it was nice but we want to see more of this!

I do not really rate Carroll that much in both RL and game but the attacking classic 424 that I use encompasses fine wing play and carroll does revel in this although I dont like him! :)

In my experience, which is usually 4 or 5 seasons before I sell him, he is used best as a super sub. His best seasons for me has been when he starts no more than 12-15 games in all competitions. He seems to play better in cup competitions as well. He will be a solid 3 star if you use him right, but I usually get bored and sell him. As for Stewie, my first season with him he lead the league in assists playing as a left winger with a sole striker. But honestly I would sell Andy, he doesn't fit with the team.

He is just as **** in FM as he is in real life what more do you wan't out of him. It's more or less a fair reflection of the player.

cyril, he is 22 years old. You act like the KID has reached his peak or his up most potential. Like kenny said we signed him for five years. There is no denying his potential as a Target Man and an integral part of the future of LFC. He needs to find his feet, mature, and gain his confidence. He was a lethal weapon as a Magpie.

I've been giving him a lot of game time second season, he played in all the CL group stage and league cup matches, as well,as two league matches. Somewhat surprisingly, he's actually netted 16 times in 11 games. Admittedly against somewhat weaker opposition, but I'm amazed. Especially as Suarez is on a 400 minute goal drought.

This is as a Target Man attack in a 4-2-3-1 system with wingers, which I forgot to mention.

Yeah i forgot to mention in my second season with him out of the 35 games he played he scored 21 goals. he can def be utilized.

I find the main problem is that he is quite rubbish when having hold of the ball for a long period of time. If he's dropping deep, you just lost possession, and even getting him through a high defensive line, he doesn't have the speed to capitalise. Playing a high defensive line I found he was scoring far more often, usually after recieving a pass on the edge of the box against a pinned back team, turning onto his left and smashing the ball with power. Only two of those goals were headers.

carroll is one of the best target men on the game. in real life he is poor but you shouldn't let that effect your in-game decisions.

He always seems to bang them in for the AI, but whenever I've called him up for England he's been awful.

He is just not good enough mate. Simple as.

Even as a target man he is rubbish, barely holds up the ball and even if he miraculously does gives it away in the blink of the eye. The likes of Zamora and Crouch are much better target men IRL
