Reserve squad

It's a pretty strange question and unlikely possible but is it possible to get rid of a reserve squad legitimately, like in-game if you refuse to take part in the reserve league etc?? I ask this because I don't want/need any of the players in it and I see it as a pretty pointless activity with my squad and team setup.
