Got FM 12 earlier today. Let's say I pick the leagues from England and Italy to use in a new game, will no other teams from countries be able to qualify for Europa League and etc? And would I be able to find players on the transfers from other leagues than the leagues I've selected in my game.

Thanks.

need to choose as many leagues/nations as posibble mate with large database for more players and realistic game save imo.

Teams from other countries will still be in the game, they will still have players and they will still be able to qualify for continental competitions. The only thing that changes if you don't activate their leagues is that you can't manage them.

Depending on how fast your computer is you should try to pick a few leagues and countries I guess. Although if you're just starting out you're just as well putting on one country and just getting through a season or two quickly so that you can learn the basics of the game and get used to playing.

It is good to add other countries just for the sake of adventure. After reading some threads on selling players I added the Russian leagues. Lo and behold, after not getting any job ops after taking lowly Grimsby up to nPower 1 from Bs, I decide to jump to the Russian league 1 when the Mordavia job opened up. I knew absolutely nothing about the Russian league but now find myself completely immersed in it.

The fact is, if you play FM to buy and sell big name players, then yeah, just stick to what you did, but if you bought it to test your managerial skills, load up as many as your computer can take. I have England, France, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, and Russia and my system is handling everything fine.

Any team from any country will be able to qualify. But if you choose more leagues, it will be more realistic. Also, during the game you can do it aswell, so it's ok :) .

i have argentina,belgium,brazil,croatia,columbia,denmark,england,france,germany,holland,italy,mexico,portugal,russia,south korea,spain,turkeyukraine,uruguay:D

Ok cheers guys, think I'll stick with England, Spain, France, Germany, Russia, Turkey And Italy

Just another question, will I be able to transfer guys from other leagues that I've not chosen to manage

Depends on the reputation of the player, but in most cases no (false players will show up). To avoid this go into Custom -> Show players from top teams -> World. Shows the players from the top teams e.g. whole Shakhtar team, whole Dinamo GNK team ect.

Will I do it before i begin a new game or will I do it while I'm in the transfer window with my club... sorry for being so noobish at this game :/

I see it differently to most of you - I load the country I intend to manage in and possibly one other. With FM12s add/ remove leagues feature it really doesn't matter unless you intend on leaving that season. Anytime I get bored of a club I just load a few countries for the end of the season and see what pops up then.
