Can you help me with this problem? Any solutions please?

For the last two days this notification keeps appearing saying that because of an error, the application will close. I don't know why this is happening or how I can solve this issue. I can't play the game properly :s I play for some time, and this thing comes up, closing the game before I could save it. So I continue from a past date. It is really annoying.
I would appreciate if someone could help me.

right click on the game in steam, Go to properties, hit the local files tab, then verify gaming cache

I didn't install the game via steam, how can I solve it then?
