My Ankaragucu save has given me the FM bug back and when the game got corrupted I decided to bounce right back and who better to be than my local team. They are on a bit of a high right now in real life and could even win the cup double so I have no shame on jumping on the bandwagon.
Oh and if I can match my good friend Stonecold from last years game then that would be great!!!!!
(high odds given whats happened so far with me admittedly).
I am using an updated database with all the latest changes. I just transferred players and staff and didnt add any finances (apart from to add ?15m to Newcastle lol) or change player attributes to boost Aberdeen. In fact if anything I have boosted other clubs by making Ryan Gauld, Stevie May, Andrew Robertson amongst others better.

DID YOU KNOW?????
Aberdeen manager Donald Colman invented the managerial dugout
Pittodrie was the first all covered, all seated stadium in Britain
70's star Zoltan Varga replaced Johann Cruyff at Ajax
Aberdeen have never been relegated
I was not happy when I loaded up the save immediately lol. Why? Because some of the current staff at the club, all former players, are not in the game for some reason so I dont have Neil Simpson, Peter Weir and Neil Cooper. I couldnt be arsed creating them and restarting however.
So with that I will start with the staff I have brought in............
--
STAFF IN
Club icons Brian Irvine and Eoin Jess were brought in as first team coaches while I brought back former Aberdeen defender David Winnie in as a scout and former keeper Michael Watt as U19 manager. I also managed to bring in former Aberdeen striker Duncan Shearer in as reserve team manager.
Graham Liveston came in from Alloa to be my new head of youth development and former Scotland international Tom Boyd has joined as youth team coach. I did bring in a few other members of staff but I am still looking for a few positions including a director of football.
Tony Docherty remains as my assistant manager.
--
PLAYERS IN
I pretty much used my transfer budget to get the staff in lol. The only transfer fee I paid was the ?40,000 I gave to Alloa Athletic for 15y/o Scott Hynd. Methinks he looks a decent prospect. View attachment 423767
Finally I brought back Fraser Fyvie to the club from Wigan Athletic and Dedryck Boyata from parent club Manchester City on loan. They should be first choice picks this season. View attachment 423762View attachment 423760
--
PLAYERS OUT
The only departure is Scott Vernon who I let go to join Wolves for ?88,000.
--
SUMMARY
Methinks I have a good mix of youth and experience. Cammy Smith, Ryan Jack, Peter Pawlett, Joe Shaughnessy and Clark Robertson are all decent young players while Barry Robson, Russell Anderson and Jamie Langfield will help them along.
Our defence looks particularly strong as does our whole starting XI to be fair but we are lacking in cover in the attacking midfield areas.
My aim for the season is to finish 2nd and hopefully get a cup win under our belt.

OTHER NEWS
Manchester City become our parent club
Training and youth facilities to be improved
Aberdeen 3 (Boyata 5, Hayes 42, Smith 63) Kilmarnock 0
A decent start to my career this. We dominated throughout and could have scored a few more. Scott Hynd became both the club and the leagues youngest player when he came off the bench.
--
Motherwell 3 (Berahino 35, Hammell 78, Sutton 83) Aberdeen 4 (Rooney 15, 75, Boyata 39, Robson 55)
What a game!!!! I got a bit of a shock when I seen that they had Berahino on loan and he duly scored.
--
Aberdeen 1 (Boyata 36) Celtic 3 (Shaughnessy og33, van Dijk 85, Griffiths 90)
We definately did not deserve to lose this game. We played pretty well and gifted them their first goal and then lost our concentration at the end. Encouraging and disappointing at the same time lol
--
Heart of Midlothian 1 (Robinson 45) Aberdeen 3 (McGinn 33, Rooney 70, Smith 90)
The first half was pretty even against Hearts' kids but we stepped up a gear in the 2nd half.
--
Scottish Communities League Cup 2nd Round Brechin City 1 (Anderson 49) Aberdeen 4 (Smith 8, Pawlett 23, Robertson 27, 75)
I was able to rest a few players and we did pretty well. Clark Robertson surprised me greatly with 2 goals.
A decent start to the season all told. We have been banging in the goals although we have conceded far too many. Overall though it has been pretty positive and we didnt get what we deserved against Celtic certainly.
As for transfer activity there were no more ins or outs for us although I did reject a ?300,000 offer from Dundee United for Joe Shaughnessy.
Aberdeen 3 (Tate 15, Pawlett 35, Jack 63) St.Johnstone 1 (MacLean 37)
Another decent win. We were always comfortable, even when ex Don Steven MacLean pulled one back for them, I always knew we would come out on top.
--
Partick Thistle 2 (Taylor 29, 42) Aberdeen 2 (Robson 11, Pawlett 27) This result is not acceptable. Throwing away a 2 goal lead is just not on.
I decided to drop Rooney against his old club and brought young Cammy Smith in and he rewarded me with a goal.
--
Scottish Communities League Cup 3rd Round Kilmarnock 1 (Stewart 20) Aberdeen 2 (Robson 5, Pawlett 28)
A good win this and into the next round we go.
--
St. Mirren 1 (Newton 9) Aberdeen 4 (Tate 54, Wylde og62, Smith 80, 84pen)
This was a great result. I would have taken a point going into the game and we were poor in the 1st half but our 2nd half performance was magnificent.
An unbeaten month so I have got to be happy with that!!! We have already opened up a 6pt gap over the 3rd placed side so that bodes well but we have a tough draw in the League Cup as we are away to Motherwell.
I did bring in one more player to help us out. Former Scotland international Derek Riordan has been brought in and will provide cover in the attacking areas. View attachment 423618
Ross County 3 (Mustafi 46, 82, King 90) Aberdeen 5 (Hayes 36, Rooney 45pen, 52pen, 89, Pawlett 86)
Goals galore here and 4 were scored in the last 10 crazy minutes. We have no problems scoring but our defence is as crumbly as a Cadburys Flake bar!!!! Unfortunately Jonny Hayes got injured and is out for 4-5 months.
--
Aberdeen 2 (Fyvie 6, Robson 39) Dundee United 0
We win the derby with an excellent performance. We had 18 shots to their 2 so we were dominant throughout. What was really pleasing was that we kept a clean sheet!!
That is 13 goals scored in our last 3 away games which is just rediculous lol
--
Scottish Communities League Cup QF Motherwell 1 (Berahino 31) Aberdeen 1 (Rooney 5) (AET Aberdeen win 4-2 on penalties)
We deservedly made it through to the semis here in a difficult match. The first half was even but then we dominated but when McGinn went off injured I had to change tactic (for the first time ever in FM14 lol) and go to a more defensive 4-4-1-1 formation. We still dominated and deserved to get the 2nd goal but in the end we managed to do it on penalties.
Another unbeaten month and another one with plenty of goals. 5 of our last 6 games have been away from home so to come out of that unbeaten is a great achievement. We are still just trailing Celtic in the league though but I dont think anyone will overtake us.
Give credit to Hearts though. They have easily overcame their 15pt deduction and would be comfortably sitting in 3rd place if they had those points added on.
The cup semi draw has been made and we will play St. Johnstone with Celtic due to meet Dundee United.
I may look into signing another attacking midfielder on a free next month as we are beginning to pick up a few too many injuries with Hayes and McGinn being out for quite a while.
This month was boring considering the previous months escapades. The defeat to Celtic hurt a bit but we progressed in the cup so that was good.
I added a young left sided player to help as cover by bringing in Luke Giverin on a free transfer and released veteran keeper Nicky Weaver. View attachment 423039

And we score 4 again!!! It was 1-1 early on and despite having Robson sent-off we went into half-time in
the lead. They then had a man sent-off and we brushed them aside quite easily after that.
--
Inverness Caledonian Thistle 0 Aberdeen 2 (Rooney 49, Hayes 83)
My two former ICT players scored the goals here to send us top of the league. The game was fairly even throughout but we were helped when they had a man sent-off with 20min left.
--
Aberdeen 1 (Rooney 55) Motherwell 1 (Anier 67)
We absolutely battered them here. We had 18 shots compared to there 2. Never mind.
--
Aberdeen 1 (Hynd 81) Ross County 1 (Cikos 15)
Another 2pts dropped at home but it was understandable as we were missing 9 first choice players.
If I was convinced that we were in with a shout of the title I would be disappointed with this month as we dropped 4pts at home but I still dont think we can win it, despite only being 2pts behind Celtic.
I will try and strengthen the squad next month but we shall see what I can manage to eek out of the board.
Also during the month Scott Hynd became the club and leagues youngest goalscorer and St. Johnstone sacked Tommy Wright.
Dundee United 1 (El Alagui 1) Aberdeen 1 (Smith 84)
3 games without a win now.........
--
Kilmarnock 0 Aberdeen 1 (Boyata 59)
Back to winning ways at last. We completely dominated and should have scored 5 or 6.
--
Aberdeen 3 (Pawlett 2, Smith 45, McGinn 56) Hibernian 0
The result was good but McGinn going off injured and being out for 3 months is bad.
--
Aberdeen 0 Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1 (Jacobs 84)
AAAGGGHHH!!!!! This was a poor result and performance. Injuries are affecting our side quite badly at the moment as Robson went off here.
This was a very bad month as we lost 2 games and had several injury problems including losing Niall McGinn for most of the remainder of the campaign. We better pick up immediately as our next match is the League Cup semi-final.
Transfer wise we lost Fraser Fyvie as his loan spell was only until the end of January so I am cursing myself about that as I thought it was until the end of the season!!!! I rejected offers for Ryan Jack, Joe Shaughnessy and Clark Robertson however.
Incoming was Ryan Fraser who returned to the club on loan from Bournemouth. He will replace Niall McGinn for the rest of the campaign. View attachment 421356
Elsewhere in the league Alex McLeish is the new manager of St. Johnstone while Chelsea signed Mark O'Hara from Kilmarnock for ?2.1m.

Scottish Communities League Cup Semi-Final Aberdeen 2 (Pawlett 56, Rooney 95) St. Johnstone 1 (Wotherspoon 20) AET
Into the final we go!!!! We werent great but did just enough to sneak through to play Celtic.
--
William Hill Scottish Cup 5th Round Aberdeen 5 (Butcher og9, Pawlett 29, 81, Boyata 62, Smith 70) Dundee United 2 (Ameobi 44, Tate og64)
A great result this as we progress into the quarter-finals. Peter Pawlett was unplayable in this match.
--
Aberdeen 0 Celtic 2 (Biton 21, Pukki 42)
We were awful here but at least Shaughnessy didnt score an og this time!!! We have now lost our last 3 league games............
--
St. Mirren 0 Aberdeen 2 (Tate 17, Rooney 32)
Back to winning ways - and about ****** time too!!!!
--
Partick Thistle 2 (Taylor 4, 83) Aberdeen 4 (Fraser 17, 84, Rooney 58, Hayes 78)
A good win but a strange game. We fell behind, had a goal disallowed, promptly equalised and then they had a man sent-off all in the first 20min. At half-time we had 1 shot so I gave the players a severe bollocking and they responded well.
A decent month I suppose as we progressed in both cup competitions and finally got back to winning ways in the league. We will play Celtic in the League Cup final and Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
Hopefully I can keep my players fit for those cup games. The league is a non-event really now although we could still topple Celtic however for me it is all about developing the younger members in my squad like Smith, Hynd, Shaughnessy and Jack.
William Hill Scottish Cup Quarter-Final Kilmarnock 2 (Tate og50, Eremenko 61) Aberdeen 4 (Smith 4, Rooney 13, 79, Robson 76)
This was an even game but our better firepower won us the match.
This is not the best result to take into a cup final. Hearts' kids ran us ragged in the first half and we were deservedly behind. We were camped in their half in the 2nd half and hit the woodwork 4 times but couldnt rescue a point.
--
Scottish Communities League Cup Final Celtic 0 Aberdeen 2 (Hayes 16, Smith 31)
GET IN!!!!!!
A fantastic result and a trophy for the club is won. Our first 2 shots found the net and we held on after that. Shaughnessy was man of the match therefor putting his 2 own goals against Celtic this season behind him.
I was thinking my players had over celebrated the cup final victory as we quickly went 3-0 down but we bounced back to bang in 5 goals. Quite incredible.
--
Ross County 0 Aberdeen 4 (Rooney 18, 31pen, Fraser 24, Boyata 28)
Another great performance and result. I was meant to rest Cammy Smith for the last game but forgot so I did it here and he wasnt missed.
--
Aberdeen 2 (Rooney 71, Logan 85) Dundee United 2 (Shaughnessy og6, Ameobi 90)
******!!! Shaughnessy scored his 3rd og of the season and Shola Ameobi netted against us for the 2nd time this season.
Cant complain with this month!!! We were pretty good in the league with the highlight being the comeback against Kilmarnock. However it was the cup final that stole the show as we managed to conquer Celtic to win our first trophy for a long time.
I forgot to add in an earlier post that Liverpool have become another parent club for us while I have managed to get Belgian side Dessel in as a feeder club to help with work permits.
REVENGE IS SWEET!!!! This was the first game after the split and Niall McGinn made his return from injury.
--
William Hill Scottish Cup Semi-Final Aberdeen 2 (Rooney 59pen, Hayes 75)
St. Mirren 1 (Goodwin 27)
We reach another final with victory here. Rooney had a goal disallowed to make it 1-1 but he scored from the spot in the 2nd half and Hayes came off the bench to score the winner.
St. Mirren have got several Newcastle players on loan - Bigirimana, Newton, Campbell, Streete and Miele.
A good win but Pawlett got injured and will miss the Scottish Cup final.
--
Celtic 3 (Pukki 5, 36, Izaguirre 39) Aberdeen 2 (McGinn 28, Hayes 54)
We were without quite a few first choice players so to lose narrowly wasnt too bad. Hopefully we can win next time we meet!!!
--
Aberdeen 3 (Shaughnessy 5, Fraser 40, Moyo 62) Motherwell 4 (Francis-Angol 45, Sutton 46, 87, Carswell 56)
This is not the best way to go into a cup final - losing 2 games in a row and throwing away a 2 goal lead also. That said I did play a load of youngsters and backups here.
--
William Hill Scottish Cup Final Aberdeen 2 (Robson 57, Flood 72) Celtic 1 (Isgrove 43)
WE WIN THE CUP DOUBLE!!!!!!!
This was a tight affair and we fell behind just before half-time but we managed to win thanks to 2 of my former Celtic players. We managed to hold on for the victory despite Celtic creating several good chances to equalise.
This month wrapped up the season quite nicely. The league campaign finished with us obviously in 2nd place but we managed to win the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1990 and therefore meaning that we have won 2 trophies this season.
Something I have just stumbled upon - while checking my transfer clauses I noticed we are due 20% of a Man Utd players future transfer fee despite us never having him!!!! They must have poached him lol View attachment 420248View attachment 420247
--
Well I have to be happy with my first season in charge. We gave Celtic a decent run for their money in the league before we faltered near the end but we managed to win both cup competitions so overall it was a hugely successful season.
My young players have developed quite well too. Obviously the likes of Smith, Jack and Shaughnessy were in the first team and had more chances to shine but the likes of Hynd and Robertson have improved also.
Looking forward to European football next season!!!!
