Domestic FA Cup competition

I am trying to create domestic FA Cup (winners to go Europe) in a league format (like Eurocup).

The setup should compromise of all teams to start (elimination), then going to group stages of, lets say, 5 teams of 8 or 10 leagues. This will follow the Qs, semis and finals.

I tried this editor's cup section, which you can choose "Group stage and then cup" there.
I would prefer to create the first elimination section then the group stages.

Any ideas or tips, please.

I tried recently creating a domestic cup like this but i couldn't get the 'qualifying' round to happen before the group stage - i'm not sure how/if it is possible. I know the format exists for the euro cup and champions cup but both are uneditable competitions.

Apparently the FM11 editor will allow editing/creation of continental competitions - if this is true then there must be a way of making your own competition knockout(qualifying) - group stage - knockout

The FM11 editor will let you have a qualifying round before the group stage, but on FM10, you can't
