How to make my players square the ball?

I am fairly satisfied with my tactics, except for one problem, my players often tend to shoot it from an angle rather than square it to a teammate. Turning on "work ball into box" doesn't help much as the game thinks that those tight angle shots behind the defence are good chances. Can anyone help? I've noticed that some AI teams and other players have their players square the ball often, so help is useful.

Its also a slight ME bug thats been in FM for ages..
