Barcelona have signed Valencia's David Villa in the first major transfer of the summer. The Spain striker cost the Catalan club £34.2 million and will move to the Nou Camp after months of speculation over his future.

Villa, Valencia's top scorer in La Liga with 21 goals, will sign for four years and will be paid seven million euros per season according to Catalan sports daily Mundo Deportivo.
He had been coveted last year by both Barca and Real Madrid, but the Catalans picked up the services of Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Inter Milan in a £40 million deal which saw Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o move the other way; while Madrid opted to sign Karim Benzema instead.

The striker will undergo a medical on Friday and will join up with fellow Spain internationals Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, Pedro and Sergio Busquets at the club before the World Cup begins on June 11.

So bye bye Zatlan??

Not surprised, it has been 99% sure for the last week or so.

for some reason i was surprised when i read this. they will kill it more than they usually do

scary, very scary

just imagine how R.Mardid will feel, spending all that money on big egos and shirt pegs, then get a coach that didnt sign them in the first place and still only be the 2nd best team in spain hahaha

well done barcelona

they're still weak at the back... Puyol is only getting older and the rest are more comfortable going forward. mind you when the attack is so potent it doesn't really matter how many they concede.

This season tehy conceded less than Chelsea, United and any other Premier league team, they conceded the least in any major European league and had the goalkeeper of the year and 4 defenders in the team of the year. Yes, it is their weak area but people underestimate their defence.

really? didn't realise that. ridiculous. this will be a legendary era for them.

Their attack is quite insane now *jealous* :$

they have a top defence, and anyway the best form of defence is attack. the opposition cant hurt you if they aint got the ball

Everyone got so excited when we had Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez and Ronaldo.. think we've just been trumped.

Hate to sink your ship but it looks like Toure is leaving. He had a falling out with Guardiloa and after the season his agent was giving Pep a right slagging.

Whats going to happen with Keirrison?

Doesnt seem like there will be any chance of him going to play for Barca now

The line-up will probably be something along the lines of..

Valdes
Alves - Puyol - Pique - Abidal/Maxwell
Xavi
Iniesta - Fabregas
Messi - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Pedro
