John Terry gets too much of the ball

I'm playing with chelsea, 1st season, and in my first few games John Terry passes about 40-50 passes in every match, placing him 2nd in the players that get most of the balls.
what can I do to change it?

Less time wasting, also see which players pass to him and increase their mentality, so that they look to play the game forward rather than playing it too safely.

It shouldnt be too much of a problem tbh.
Check you haven't accidentally ticked terry as your playmaker/target man.
Perhaps check if you have him set as a ball playing defender or a stopper duty in any role, if so, then change this.
Check that your team is balanced and there are actually options to pass to as opposed to passing backwards.
Try changing short passing to direct passing.
The last thing i can think of is to check your gk's player instructions. Perhaps you set his distribution to defender collect and terry is doing the job of collecting.

i dont think its a real problem at all. at least he does his job at the defense then its fine
