Removing player coach/player assistant manager?

Am playing as Mansfield and two of the squad players are set up as player/coaching staff. Is there a way to remove them as coach/assistant manager without releasing the players? They're both decent players to have in my squad but not really that good as staff so want to replace them.

I don't think there is a way to remove them as staff without releasing them or offering them a new contracts without the staff role. However they are only one 1 year contracts and are not much use if you get promoted so I would keep them for the first year and replace them in the second one.
