In 2009 German manager Christoph Daum signed a contract with Fenerbahce taking over the unsuccessful Luis Aragones. Daum was set a straight forward task, to raise Fenerbahce back to glory and achieve the Turkish title once again. At his signing ceremony Daum asked the fans to support the team 110% and to never look down at the individual players. He also asked for some patience and understanding as the team would look to grind out results and attempt to get back into a rhythm of play.

Despite failing to win the Turkish title or the Turkish Cup in his first season, Daum achieved 2nd place and a Turkish Super Cup. Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim thought that this was a massive improvement over past seasons and opted to continue with Christoph Daum. Aziz Yildirims patience proved to pay off as Christoph Daum won the 2010/11 Turkish Super League Title. Daum pledged to the fans that the team would only grow stronger, however what Daum didn't anticipate was the retiring of his main players as well as bigger teams poaching his best players.

The next season, 2011/2012 was not so successful for Daum, finishing in a lowly 10th position. Many important first team players including Alex De Souza, Diego Lugano, Dani Guiza and Ozer Hurmaci left the side for various reason. The 10th league finish was the lowest in history for Fenerbahce. The season did however contain a trophy, with Daum once again winning the Turkish Super Cup. Despite finishing the season terrible, Aziz Yildirim opted to continue with the German coach believing that he could lead them to league glory once again.

Aziz Yildirims patience paid off once again as Christoph Daum lead Fenerbahce to glory in the 2012/2013 season. Many could not believe their eyes when Fenerbahce went from 10th place to 1st place in just a season but a lot of Football analysts did claim that the Euro2012 tournament had a major role in Fenerbahces triumph as Galatasaray and Besiktas contributed more players to the Turkish national team then Fenerbahces.

Fast forward 5 seasons to the 2017/18 season. Fenerbahce has not won the league title for 6 years and Galatasaray has run rampant notching 6 league titles in a row putting their tally to 23, towering over Fenerbahces 19. Half way through the season Fenerbahce found themselves at a terrible 6th place and looking to bow out of the title race. At this time Christoph Daum finally decided to retire at the end of the season. Ending a reign of 6 dry seasons. Fenerbahce started their search for a new manager quick, deciding that a Turkish manager should take over the team.

The shortlist of names were: Bulent Uygun, Fatih Terim, Sabit Kozak, and Tunay Kofkas

Of all the names on the list, the fans were in agreement that Sabit Kozak or Fatih Terim should NOT be hired as Fenerbahce manager. The fans thought Sabit Kozak did not have enough managerial ability to lead the club to glory. Fatih Terim was a hated figure at Fenerbahce so there was no surprise to their disdain towards the man. The fans were to receive quite a shock.

On the 2/6/2018 Fenerbahce Aziz Yildirim announced that Sydney FC manager Sabit Kozak would be taking over the reigns at Fenerbahce SK. Aziz Yildirim stressed to the fans that a lot of thought was put into the decision and despite Sabit Kozak being a young manager with no former football reputation, his statistics showed that he had the capabilities to transform a weak team into a great team. The Fenerbahce fans still laid wary of the decision.

Sabit Kozak (left) can be seen here celebrating his new managerial job at Fenerbahce SK with his brother.

Sabit Kozak had previously only managed Sydney FC, managing the team for 2 seasons before leaving. In his time at Sydney FC Sabit Kozak managed to stun punters 3 seasons in a row. In his first season, 2016-2017, punters predicted that Sydney FC would finish dead last in the A-League season but to their surprise Sabit Kozak managed to finish 4th in the league and 4th in the finals series. His success was down to his great identification of talent in Sydney FCs youth team. In the following season punters once again predicted Sydney FC to finish dead last but Kozak once again stunned all of Australia by finishing 5th with a great defensive record and followed it up by finished 2nd in the finals series.

Sabit Kozak's astonishing make-over of Sydney FC was the reason for his new job at Fenerbahce.

Sabit Kozak's tenure at Fenerbahce began with him appointing Marvin Martin as the captain. He would become only the second foreign player to captain Fenerbahce after Alex De Souza.

Next he arranged a slew of friendly matches against top teams including Besiktas, Arsenal, Barcelona and AC Milan. Despite the high ranks of his opponents, Sabit Kozak guided his team to only 1 loss which was against AC Milan from 9 friendlies.

The young manager would also make 9 transfers with plans to only utilize 3 of them in his first team. An overall $44AUS Million was spent on transfers.

Renan and Cem were to play important roles.

Renan is a Brazilian goalkeeper with higher than average but lower than world class stats who would do excellent in the Turkish Premier Division.

Cem is a fast Turkish striker who would contribute a whole lot of goals.

Manager Kozak quickly made it known to the public that this would be his starting 11:

Despite forming a strong team, Kozaks first season did not go to well. Fenerbahce made it into the Turkish Cup final and lost, the team could only go as far as the 2nd knockout round in the Europa League after being knocked out of the Champions League qualifying stages and finished 3rd in the league.

Manager Kozak expressed his opinion on the fact that Batuhan had led to the fall of the team as he did not contribute as much as a player of his talents should have and would offload him as soon as he could. This angered the fans but Aziz Yildirim stood by the young manager and promised another year with Fenerbahce.

Wow.

Great start. :)

I'll be following.

Thanks guys :) Sorry for not doing a proper layout with every game but I didn't plan to write a story until now when I got the job at Fenerbahce. Writing a story about Sydney FC isn't all the exciting considering you can't achieve as much as a club in Europe can.

Don't worry mate. :)

Looking forward to more updates.
