About The Club

vikingur reykjavik, known as just Vikingur locally are a semi professional football team in the Icelandic Premier Division. Vikingur are traditionally known as the second team in Reykjavik due to the success of the their local rival Knattspyrnufelag Reykjavikur. However Vikingur have been successful in their own right with 5 league titles and one Icelandic cup victory to the clubs name.

Baldvinsson looks to be a very strong, versatile player who has alot of ability and will be a key attacking outlet for Vikingur this season .​

Tufegdzic is our captain and key player, strong outwide and through the middle. He's technically better than the majority of players in the division and will be a key member of the squad.

Joel Thomas is our only signing this window, hes a tall, strong striker who is comfortable with his back to goal. He should fit in well due to the fact we plan on playing a direct style of play

Tactics

We plan on deploying a defensive 4-3-3 this season with a holding midfielder to act as a shield to a flat back four. Infront of the CDM is an attacking center midfielder who's aim will be to offer support to a lone target man who will try to bring players in around him with flick ons and holding the ball up.

We played absolutely awful today, giving away a penalty after two minutes put us on the back foot, then conceding again just before half time killed us off. However we did tinker drastically with the tactics for this game so i'm as much to blame as the players.

What a classic display of counter attacking football! We sat deep and picked them off time and time again. The early goal settled us into the game and invited Fjolnir on to us. Then to go two up after a deadly breakaway which led to a penalty was pleasing and put us in a very strong position. However Fjolnir pulled one back on the 56th Minute although we regained our two goal advantage almost instantly with a goal from Vladmir. Another goal then came shortly after which was the icing on the cake after an almost perfect display.

What a huge game this is! an away game to our biggest rivals. the stats somewhat flatter KR as we gave as good as we got having two goals disallowed. We took the lead through Vladmir just after half time, we probably dropped too deep and where punished for it as they equalized on the 81st Minute. I really cant fault my players though as this is the most difficult game in our season and we more than competed and took home a well earned point.

What a remarkably boring game. In hindsight i could have played a slightly more offensive formation as Keflavik didn't offer much from an attacking point of view. We took an early lead through Taskovic's header from a well worked corner routine. However apart from us hitting the post nothing else really happened in a very boring game.

This is a very difficult fixture, we're hosting the reigning Icelandic Champions and again we competed with the best. Not much to tell about this game as we basically set out to frustrate Stjarnan who could not break us down. On another day we might have been able to ****** this game with only the crossbar denying us late on.

We've made a solid start to the campaign with five points from a possible twelve. I'm disappointed to have lost the opening game of the season but as a team we have learned from that game and went unbeaten in our last three. two well earned points at Stjarnan and KR respectfully have shown us that we can compete with the best teams in the Division and we shall look to push on in June!

Vladmir has had a great month for us scoring two in two and earning a man of the match in the process, injury ruled him out of the Starnan game and with him playing the result could have swung in our favor.

Goals galore! This game was a total ding dong battle and it could have been 10-10! really happy with the performance offensively and delighted to see Toft grab a hatrick. Vladimir again proved how important he is to the team with a couple of assists. What a great way to start a busy month.

What an awful performance! Extremely dissapointed with the efforts from the lads today, nobody turned up. After conceding an early goal the heads dropped and we offered nothing against a fairly average team. what a contrast to our last game.

Another poor performance! Yet again we were second best for the whole 90 minutes. To concede two in under ten Minutes shows a lack of concentration and to be honest the game was well finished before half time. The only positives i can find from the game is our young striker Palsson managed to score coming off the bench however irrelevant the goal was it was good to see a young player show some hunger in a game in which his more experienced team mates showed so little.

What a smash and grab! Yet another game where we didn't play at our best. I'm very glad we managed to win and progress in the Cup although we probably didn't deserve the win. It was also good to see Thomas grab a brace despite coming on as a substitute. The cup game has offered us a welcomed distraction to our poor league form and were now in the quarter finals!

Our miserable league form continues! i'm furious!! yet another defeat and yet another defeat at home. Really dissapointed our cup form couldn't transcend on to our league form. Another total no show infront of our home fans. I think a few changes will be made for our next fixture.

Oh yes! There is honestly no greater feeling than a last minute goal! in a game that we dominated from start to finish i was ecstatic when our goal went in. we controlled the midfield from start to finish however it seemed like it wasn't going to be our day until our leftback Snorrason scored from twenty yards sending the fans into raptures. It felt good being able to give our fans a win to cheer at home after the poor run we were on prior to todays game.

Overall we had a decent month with two wins and three defeats in the league. Right now were sitting five points away from the European places which makes me think that a good run could put us right up there. However we are only three points away from relegation so a bad run could lead us to serious trouble and we could easily be dragged into a relegation dogfight.

Toft's Hatrick against IBV really lives long in the memory as one of the best indivual performances of the season. Scoring three and providing one assist in the month was enough for Toft to grab the award in a month in which no player particularly stood out.

July Update

Europa League Qualifying Round One:

What a tough defeat to take! In all honesty i was expecting the worse when the draw was made. I really thought that Slovan would be able to turn us over with relative ease. But all credit to my boys they sat in and defended magnificently as a unit. Conceding in the 84th minute is always hard to take but when it stops us from having a famous away draw its even harder.

Whats with us scoring own goals! Conceding two in two games means we really have shot ourselves in the foot! in a game in which we created so few chances its no real shock that we crashed out of the cup. I'm very dissapointed to be knocked out as we saw the cup as a backdoor way into the Europa league However it gives us a chance to concentrate on our league form.

We gave it our all. Iv'e honestly never been prouder of this team, over the two legs we gave everything and just fell ever so slightly short. To be honest on another night we could have won this game 2-0, we unluckily had a goal dissalowed for offside and we squandered a couple of chances. Ultimately Slovan Bratislava took their chances on the night but i saw some encouraging things from the boys and hopefully we can preform like that in the future.

Today we got lucky. We wern't at our best today away at Breidablik, but somewhat fortunately we come away with a point. Baldvinsson scored a total fluke as he somehow scored from a cross! Today is most definitely a point earned, sometimes in football the performance is irrelevant and the only thing that matters is the points on the board.

Yet again against a team we expect to beat we turn in a totally horrendous performance!! drawing 1-1 away from home, on paper, always seems like a good result. But when your playing bottom of the league who have won twice all season, and to be totally dominated by them from start to finish is a sore one to take. We lost everybattle on the pitch today and the 1-1 scoreline flatters us somewhat.

Oh dear! To concede four at home is bad enough, but to do it against your biggest rivals is even worse. but today defensively we where a no show. We simply couldn't handle Martin who managed to grab a first half hatrick. Starting to think that we need to strengthen defensively in the near future if were going to be able to compete with the better teams in the league.

Our first win in a month! Today we really were a one man show, Steingrimmson had the performance of the season! anything we done well it came through him and he deserved his brace today. yet again defensively we were poor but we had the firepower to out score Fjolnir on the day. Its good to get a win and get three points on the board again.

Although we are sitting 8th in the table we've managed to pull away from relegation and are now only four points from fourth with a game in hand. I really believe if we can go on a run we could potentially just squeak into the European places but we'll need to tighten up at the back if we have any hope in doing that.

What a month from the wide man, with three goals in five games Steingrimsson has really preformed at a level above the majority of his team mates the only player who came close to his level was Toft however this month belongs to Steingrimsson who really was our best player.

Get in lads! Great performance today from the boys. We were totally dominant from start to finish and we showed a clinical side to us that we haven't seen very often Toft is on fire at the moment. Mendiola made his debut for us and totally ran the show overall a great performance!

Not a great day for us. We were well beaten and didn't offer much in an attacking sense all game. IBV totally deserved their win and just outclassed us on the day.

Yes! We've changed our formation to a more attacking one and were reaping the rewards at the moment in a game in which we could have won 3-0 were happy enough to walk away with three points. Kefavlik are one of the teams that are around us at the moment in the league so it's good to outclass them the way we did.

What a steely performance, questions have been raised all season about our shaky back four but today they played excellently. We managed to score from a set piece early in the second half then we somehow managed to contain Stjarnan who somehow couldn't break us down, really delighted to beat the reigning champions away from home!

Totally dominant, We decided to make the tactical decision to take the game to Valur, even though they're top of the league. We made an electrifying start to the first half finding ourselves two goals up after twelve minutes, then three up after 35 minutes.After that we sat back and countered, they scored in the 90th Minute but it was measly a consolation goal and its another three points on the board for us.

Our winning streak comes to an abrupt end. Really annoyed that we score two away from home and still come away with nothing. We probably deserved a point today but Leiknir took there chances, and somewhat unfortunately we head home with nothing.

Overall i think we had a great month, gaining twelve points which has catapulted us up to filth and now were only two points away from the European places. With only three fixtures remaining we'll need to be at our best to try and get into the European places again.

Yet again another great month from the leagues top scorer, with Four goals in six this month Toft truly has been the main reason we're flying high in the league. At the start of the season we really struggled to find a regular starter to play as striker but Toft in the last few months has made the position his own.

Total end to end football. We took a good early lead through Toft but with ten minutes to go we found ourselves two down. up step Atlason, the scorer of key goals at the moment, with a last minute equalizer that keeps us in contention for the European places.

YESS!!! I honestly didn't think this goal was going to come, we pressed and pressed and pressed but we just couldn't break them down, that was until Kristinsson steps up with what may prove to be the most important goal of the season as we go into the last game of the campaign. Were one point off Kefvlak who occupy the last European place and two away from FH... Our next opponents.

We've done it, European football again next season!, what an achievement considering we where predicted a finish of ninth. And we done it the only way we know how... The hard way we where 2-1 up going into the last 10 minutes then we concede a freak goal that puts us back down to fifth. However just one minute later we regain our lead and manage to win the game that seals Qualification to the Europa League Qualification rounds.

What a month, seven points from a possible nine means we qualify for the Europa league. After a shaky start too the month we manage to turn it round and win our last two games.

Kristonsson wins the award this month as he proved in the run in that hes a big game player for us, he scored the goal that gave us a chance at getting a European place and he dominated games playing as a center midfielder all month.

Overall i'm delighted with our first season in charge with Vikingur. It took us a while to adjust to the league and find a way of playing that could win us games but we stuck together as a team and eventually the wins started to come. Up next will be our end of season awards.

What a debut season from the young Dane, scoring fourteen in twenty one is an excellent record for a lone striker. Toft really managed to make the position his own and became a better player as the campaign progressed.

Young Atlason was a key player throughout the campaign scoring four and assisting three in sixteen games was an excellent return from the twenty one year old, if he keeps developing the way he is he's going to become a key player for the squad.

Im glad i can finally give Baldvinsson the attention he deserves. He's been amazing all season registering four goals and eleven assists in eighteen starts. Throughout the campaign he's been our most consistent attacking outlet who always seemed to directly contribute to a goal every game.

Koroma is a good strong centreback who's been capped 19 times for his country, we identified the center of defense as our weak point and we believe he can tighten us up at the back.

With a lot of rumours swirling around regarding the future of Toft we thought it would be sensible if we got a replacement in before we sell. Even if Toft doesn't leave we believe Kjaeve can challenge him for the leading striker role.

No key players have left, just a few fringe players who aren't really worth mentioning.

Overall were delighted with our business this window and hopefully they can all help us push on.

The bookies, surprisingly have us on odds of 40-1 which to be honest i think is severely underestimating us. Also they believe we will finish 7th in the Table, again i think were better than that and i expect us to challenge for Europe again.

What a start to the season! Stjarnen are seen as a team that will be challenging for the title, so to beat them with such ease really gives us confidence for the year ahead. Delighted that Kjaeve managed to grab a brace in his first league game . Overall i'm delighted with the boys and hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

We through this away. We we're good value for a win today but we just couldn't find the back of the net at Fylkir scored two goals from three shots on target. Was enraged to concede in the 90th minute but these things happen... Just one of those games.

Total Humiliation. We just got destoryed off of a team a division below us. I'm not a big fan of cup football (iv'e always found it an unnecessary distraction) but that was abysmal. i'll be expecting a much better showing in our next match.

Great comeback. Being 3-1 down away from home with ten minutes left, some teams might think a games over and drop their heads but we somehow managed to come back and leave with a point. the only disappointment i have is that we managed to score three goals away from home and we didn't win the game but overall we played well today and showed great character.

What a start the young man has made to his Vikingur career, he's only just turned eighteen but he's already a starter for us and he's been capped for the Icelandic under 21's. With two goals in two starts this month Angarsson will undoubtedly go on to be a key player for us this season.

yes, that's a great win, Por have been the early pace setters in the league so to beat them so comfortably away from home is a great result that gives us our first win in three games. Hopefully we can go on a run now!

Today was the perfect performance from the boys. Scoring four with three different scorers and keeping a clean sheet is a wonderful result against a poor Keflavik team. Kjaeve really is turning out to be a beast at the moment he's even managing to keep last seasons top scorer out of the team.

We almost choked today!! Last season we wouldn't have came away from this game with a win... its a credit to the players that we managed to get the three points today. Although through individual errors we let Leiknir back into the game we showed enough steely determination to hold on and win the game. Although i'm annoyed at the fact we conceded three goals today i'm ultimately delighted with the three points.

Disappointing today. This is a case of two points dropped. I made the mistake of subbing Kjaeve at half time, i honestly thought this was a game we would go on to win comfortably but credit to Fram they fought back well in the second half and we didn't preform nearly as well as we did in the first half. I wont be subbing Kjaeve off at half time again, I've learned my lesson.

That's why you don't sub Kjaeve!! we were delighted to be up two nil twelve minutes in but it looked as if we had capitulated after they equalized in the 84th Minute. Step up Kjaeve who managed to get us the win scoring in added time! The big man is on fire!

This result brought us back to earth with a bump. We've been magnificent domestically all season and to be honest I thought we had a decent chance going into this game, i believed we could have got a decent result away to Goteburg. However they outclassed us on the night and it'll be an uphill struggle to qualify for the second round now.

I really think we've established ourselves as genuine challengers for the title and hopefully we will be their or their abouts come the end of the season.

Urgh! We were well beaten today by our local rivals which is always hard to take. I feel sorry for the fans who came out full of expectation and watched us play so poorly. Nobody played particularly well and the own goal we scored really summed up our day, hopefully this is just a blip and we can push on again.

We've done it, we've finally won a European game in this, our fourteenth attempt! Although were upset that we've crashed out of the competition in the first round i cant help but see this game as a turning point for the club in which we can challenge and compete with teams in Europe and hopefully we can take confidence from this result and we can push on domestically.

Get in! We've managed to do the double over Stjarnan who were considered one of the favorites for the title before a ball was kicked. In a game that could have finished seven - seven , we're ultimately delighted to come away with a magnificent win.

Great result and performance today. Other than a ten minute period where they scored both of their goals we were totally dominant throughout the game. Really happy for Atlason, (who has been playing out of position at rightback) To grab a goal aswell as putting on a fine display for the fans.

Yet again we dominated for the majority of the game but he have a bad habit of loosing concentration and conceding goals within a short period of time. I'm a bit upset that Baldvinsson is injured as he was just getting back to full fitness. Hes really struggled to get a good run in the team which is a shame as he was one of our best players last season.

We need to start tightening up at the back! Although we've invested heavily in defensive options were still conceding far too many. In a game in which we dominated from start to finish, we looked as if we where heading to a bitter defeat. That was before our lord and saviour Kjaeve popped up with a goal in the 88th minute. In a game we should have won we will settle for a point.

This month we picked up ten points from a possible fifteen. Were sitting in second at the moment, six points clear of third and two off of first. Overall i'm pleased with the results for July however the lose at KR will leave a bitter taste in our mouth for months to come.

It was only going to be our lord and Savior. I dread to think what would happen if he was to get injured. He really is the best player in Iceland at the moment and were delighted with him. With nine goals and two assists in his seven games this month Kjaeve has been leading our club to glory almost single handily.
