Popular manager Nigel Coates has this week decided to step down from his role as head coach of Colne FC. As part of the Colne Dynamo team that reached the fa vase final and beat Emley to claim the trophy at the old wembley. After his playing days were behind him he managed local teams such as Nelson, before taking the helm at the Colne FC the towns latest incarnation. There in his first season as manager, Colne won the North west counties div2(Now named div1) title and div 2 league cup in 2003/4. They also reached the semi final of the FA vase including a memorable win over AFC Wimbledon. Colne became mainstays in the NWCL Premier reaching their highest finish of 5th in 2007/8, and the next season their lowest of 18th the season after. Despite getting the club back to form finishing 8th last season, Nigel has decided to call time on his eight season reign as Colne boss.
"I think it's the right time to leave. I've had some great success at this club but I think i've taken it as far as I can. I'm going to take some time off from coaching for a while I think. I'll be looking to start again after i've took a break, recharged and taken stock. Colne will always have a place in my heart and I thank everybody at the club and the fans for everything we achieved in my time as manager".
