HENSON EXTENDS STAY WITH SHAKERS

Bury manager Michael Henson has signed a second contract extension which will see him remain at the club until at least June 2018.

Bury were promoted to the SkyBet Championship at the end of last season after beating Bradford at Wembley and Chairman Stewart Day has rewarded efforts.

His previous deal was due to run out at the end of the 2015/16 season but he has signed a two year extension after recently rejecting the Newcastle United job.

Bury Football Club have today announced that the takeover by a consortium has been completed and Anthony McGuire has been named as the new Chairman.

The new transfer budget is around the ?775,000 mark whilst the wage budget has been increased by nearly ?70,000 to allow new players to be brought in.

McGuire has gone on record saying that he wants to bring a new manager in and Sean Dyche has been spotted at a few Bury games recently. Although McGuire wants to bring a new manager in he states that he will consider Henson's position and may let him continue.

BREAKING NEWS: HENSON STAYS WITH SHAKERS

View attachment 436882

Following lengthy discussions with Chairman Anthony McGuire, Michael Henson has been allowed to keep his job as Bury manager following McGuire's takeover of the club.

McGuire has been impressed by the support for Henson and said that he had been persuaded to let him stay as manager instead of appointing Sean Dyche.

This was no doubt helped by the Bury fans singing throughout the away game at Sheffield United and after the game for half an hour: "Don't sack Henson, Michael Henson. You just don't seem to understand that if you sack Henson, Michael Henson you're gonna have a riot on your hands!"

View attachment 436881

The transfer embargo on the club has also been lifted.

Speaking exclusively to SkySports Michael Henson had this to say; "I'm delighted that I have been allowed to keep my job as manager. I've been a fan of the club since I was little and came through their youth academy so I'm extremely proud at how far we have come. I'm now looking forward to the January Transfer Window when I can improve the squad."

Love this story, you looking to stay in the championship or go for broke and try and get promoted either way good job :)

Cheers, appreciate it. Looking to stay in the Championship this season but if Robbie Keane continues as he is, we might be able to sneak the play-offs.

Great story. Looks like Robbie Keane has been a god send. How bizzare that Khimiki signed 2 players from you, just call them Bury B!

He has been unreal since I since him in the summer. Tried to extend his deal past next season and his wage demands are too much at the moment. Very weird that they've tried to sign my players, Soares got released after a year and they never signed Agard as they had reached their maximum number of foreign players!

Bury midfielder Marcos Senna has made the decision to retire at the end of the season at the age of 39.

Senna signed for the Shakers in the summer and got an automatic extension to his contract due to him making 15 league appearances but he feels it is the right time to hand up his boots.

It isn't the best youth intake as we can't match the resources of the bigger clubs in the North West such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.
