Well done mate! your January transfers in my opinion were soooooo much better than your summer signings.. i wasn't expected multi million pound moves but maybe some experience of relegation dogfight sort of players but in January you blew my mind with the acquisition of Torres and Depay!

Cheers mate, appreciate it. If only Torres had agreed to sign at the start of the season I might not have been in such a mess in January! Depay was a great acquisition on a free transfer and can be sold on for a profit if he reaches his potential.

Pre-Season Press Conference

View attachment 435694

Q: You face a tough opening fixture list, what are your thoughts on the opening three games?

A: I think they are going to be a massive task for us as Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are all giants in English football and will need to be respected. If one player makes a mistake then they will punish you within a second so we need to be on top form.

Q: Did you organise so many friendlies so your new players will be used to how your team plays?

A: Yes absolutely. I brought in a number of new players and wanted them to get used to how we play by getting them as much match action as possible. We try and keep the ball on the floor and get it out to our wingers so that is what we worked on and I think the pre-season campaign has been a success.

Q: You mention the new signings, do you feel that they all improve your squad?

A: Without a doubt. We got two teenagers in to develop their talents as my scouts said they will be top players one day, although Pereira will be in the squad for the first game against Manchester United. Jordan Jones is similar to Memphis Depay as he got released despite having potential so hopefully he can develop his potential here. With John Rooney leaving after his contract expired I needed another attacking midfielder and Diego Lopes fits the ball. His wages are quite high and I was surprised by that considering he was on ?800 per week at Rio Ave but I'm confident it will be worth it. Rob Lainton got his dream move to Manchester United so I needed another goalkeeper and it was a great opportunity to bring back Jonathan Bond after his previous loan spell with the club in 2011. Jean-Marie Dongou is an absolute steal at ?250,000 and he'll probably be our number one striker this year. Finally, I felt that Jordan Mustoe struggled last season so Luke O'Neill will move over to left back with Patrick Fradj filling in at right back.

Q: How did you manage to get Jean-Marie Dongou for so cheap considering he is rated as one of the best young strikers in the world?

A: I'm not too sure to be honest. I was interested in Gabriel Barbosa last season but couldn't afford him so looked at the other players in the Barcelona squad. I noticed that Dongou wasn't there and after some digging I found him in their B team so enquired about him. They came back with a figure of ?250,000 and I couldn't turn that down.

Q: Rob Lainton got a move to Manchester United in the summer. Were you surprised by that?

A: Not at all. Rob has been fantastic for us ever since he joined us and I'm glad he will have the chance to show what he can do at a big club. I'm more surprised at the fact that no-one tried to buy him before this summer.

Q: Moving away from transfers, what are your expectations for the campaign?

A: Ideally I'd like to get far in a cup competition as we've not had much success in the cups since I took charge of the club. It would be great if we could get to a final but at this stage we're just taking it one step at a time. In the league I'm hoping to stay up again and I'm aiming at around the mid table mark.

Q: Finally, are you hoping for a better start than last season?

A: Absolutely. Last season we had a nightmare start and we were in the relegation zone pretty much straight away. It took us until something like March until we got out of it so hopefully we will have a better start this season.

Hi guys,

Since being back at uni my laptop has decided to mess up and it had to be sent into repair.

Unfortunately they couldn't fix the problem and it means that I've lost all my FM files since FM12.

Luckily my uni work was backed up though so I still have all of that!

Will be looking to start a story again soon with a team from one of the following nations;

Scotland
Croatia
Ireland

Any recommendations?

I suggest starting one in Scotland from League 2 as is really good.
