FMBase Lost Talents 2.0 - Attackers' Revenge Story

@xMattCx: Well there is a reason why Cameron has declined a new contract with Cruzeiro a few months back. Let see if Cruzeiro will change their mind and let him play more often. All players have come back from the tournament only to be given a senior squad promotion.

MARCH & APRIL Updates:
I know i said i will go month by month, i decided instead to start the monthly update at the start of the new season in June/July after the U-20 World Cup Tournament. Or not, im liking this new 2 month update due to the amount of things to write/read about. We will see how things comes along.

cruzeiron.png

Cruzeiro have finally given Cameron the chance to play with the Senior Squad in April. Matthew, who has been sensational for the U-20 National Side, hadn't played any games for Cruzeiro this year, but the club gave him a chance to show what he can do. In the Copa Libertadores game vs Liga de Quito, in which they won 5-0. Cameron didn't score, but he helped create a goal to get an assist under his name. With 8 months left in his contract, Cruzeiro will try to sign him up and guarantee his services for a few extra years. As for the club, they are now in the Minas State Championship Final vs Atletico Mineiro, which they drew 0-0 in the first Leg. They will play the return leg in the first week of May to crown the State Champions. Last season, Cruzeiro were Champions by beating Atletico Mineiro. Can they repeat the feat? Will Cameron make an appearance?
gremiob.png

Hulkster got the chance to win his first medal of his career when Gremio played against Internacional in the Gaucho State Championship Apertura Finals, but they ended up losing the game in Penalty kicks. A month later, Gremio got to celebrate the win by winning the State Championship Clausura against the same opponent, winning it by Penalty Kick as well. So with both teams winning each half the State Championship, they will now both go at it in a 2 Leg Finals to crown the ultimate champion. In the 14 matches he has played in the State Championship, Hulkster has scored 10 goals, amassed 3 assists and got himself 2 MotM awards.
danubio.png

All this high scoring seasons for Ignacio Ballena have finally paid off. Last month, Ballena has been getting more Senior Squad chances and he has finally ended his goalless record by becoming the youngest ever Danubio goalscorer. On a rainy day, in front of the home crowed and watched by thousands of Uruguayan Football fans, Ballena was able to give his team the win after scoring on the 71st minute of the match. Ignacio's Senior Squad status hasn't still been guaranteed, he is still 16 years of age, but he has been getting more time with team. The manager, instead of letting him sit and rot on the bench, has been getting Ignacio to go out with the Youth Squad to keep up with his form and advance his skills as the year progresses. With the Youth Squad, there is no question who their player of the year is. Scoring an astonishing 50 goals in 49 games, also getting 6 assists and 10 MotM awards.
riverg.png

After a successful Sudamericano U-20 Tournament, where Batistuta was named in the tournament's starting XI squad, Martin has made 2 senior squad starts for River. Even though he hasn't contributed much to the team in those 2 games, he has had decent outings by averaging a rating of 7.20. With 7 games to play in the Clausura, River sit in 5th place, only 7 points from League Leaders, Boca Juniors, and River has 1 game in hand over their fiercest rivals.
vitora.png

Since coming back from injury, Messy Hallow has made an additional 3 appearances and scoring 1 goal. Messy didnt play in the Bahia State Championship, prompting the manager to explain his decision. The manager has said that he didn't want to risk Messy picking up another injury in a very intense final and wanted him to stay fresh for the new Brazilian season that will start in a weeks time.
realespporclub.png

The Venezuelan League has come to an end in April. Real Esppor didn't do very well this season by finishing in 6th place. But the positive news is that Juan Pablo Miguel was able to get 10 matches under his belt with the squad and will most likely start next season on the bench as he has played some decent matches and averaged a rating of 7.15 during that time.
deportivopetare.png

Deportivo Petare will be gutted after finishin the season in 3rd place, only 2 points behind 2nd place Deportivo Tachira. They will need a stronger defense next season if they they will want to play in Finals of the League. Oswaldo Nino has been a great inspiration for the team this year though, playing a total of 25 matches, scoring 1 goal and assisting on 7 other occasions. He even recieved 2 MotM awards for his efforts. He had been slightly less impressive since his return from injury, but now that the season has come to an end, he will be able to relax for the next month or two and get back his strength.

The U-20 World Cup Group Draw was taken place in the final week of April. There are 4 South American Nations that will take part in the competition and here are their results.

MAY & JUNE Updates:
centralt.png

Javier Squeekles has made 2 more appearances for Bolivia's National Squad. He was even able to score a goal for the national team against Turks & Caicos in a friendly. The goal scored made Javier the youngest ever Bolivian National Team goalscorer. Javier has had a good past 3/4 months in the National Side and it seems he will be getting more chances as his career takes him to...Europe! Yes ladies and gents, a European side, rumored to be Mallorca, had sent a scout to watch Javier in the past months and there are talks behind the scenes that Mallorca is willing to make a bid for his services in the coming months.
realespporclub.png

Juan Pablo Miguel has impressed the team management as of late and was rewarded with new contract that will see him stay with the team until the Summer of 2015 with a new wage of $375 a week.
gremiob.png

Gremio youngster Hulkster has now reached 20 matches played in his career for Gremio since signing his new contract...which stipulates that he should receive a rise in wage. So, now his new wage is $4600 a week. A great hike in wage for Hulkster. Hulk Hogan (Jr. if you like), has played 20 matches this season for Gremio, scoring 10 goals and 3 assists and picking up 2 MotM. Hulkster has even been getting some interest from Spain. Leading the pack, it is said, that Racing Santander is looking for a way to get his services and introduce the young scoring machine to Europe. Gremio will be playing in the Brazilian Cup Final at the end of July as they face Sport Recife in a 2-Leg Finals. So here is another chance for Hulkster to pick up the elusive first medal.
danubio.png

Dabnubio young scoring sensation, Ignacio Ballena, has made 54 appearances for the youth squad, scoring 54 goals, assisting 7 others and picking up 10 MotM awards. For the senior squad, which saw him pick up the youngest player to make an appearance and score a goal on 2 separate occasions, Ignacio made 8 appearances and scored 1 goal for his efforts. What amazing is the goal scoring percentage for the young lad. In 190 shots, he has hit the target on 96 occasions...with 54 of them finding the back of the net. Of course, those are youth squad stats, but it just gives you an idea of how lethal he has been all season.

OTHER News:
- Brazilian League is the only one in progress at the moment. All the other leagues have ended and most players are resting for the new season.
- Some players are getting ready for the U-20 World Cup that will take place in Turkey in 2 months time.

Malaga? Sweeeeeet! Delighted at how i've become the youngest ever goalscorer for Bolivia!

JULY Updates:
estudianteslp.png

Javier Squeekles became the first player to move teams. At one point earlier in the year, River Plate were after the young player. Estudiantes jumped on the opportunity after River's bid was declined. This time, Rosario Central accepted the deal and have agreed on terms. Javier Squeekles will move to La Plata at the turn of the new year.
universidaddechile.png

Raul came back from his injury with a bang. Since coming back from his long time off, close to 6 months, Raul has made 2 appearances. During his second match, he came in as a substitute to score 2 goals and help his Universidad de Chile win 3-0. He was also rewarded a new 1 year deal with the club. His new deal will see him get $275 a week. Raul also got another good news, he has become the captain of Chile's U-21 Squad.
gremiob.png

Finally Hulkster was able to place his hands on a trophy. He even played an important part in scoring the game winning goal for Gremio in the return leg to clinch the trophy. Gremio won the Brazilian Cup by beating Sport Recife 5-2 on aggregate after drawing 2-2 in the first leg away from home. This far into the season, Hulkster has been able to score 14 goals in 26 appearances. He was even able to register 4 assists and get rewarded with 2 MotM. It seems that Racing Santander put there interest on hold for the moment.
vitora.png

Messy Hallow has signed a brand new deal with Vitoria that will keep him at Barradao until the end of 2015. The new deal will see him make $2600 a week with a $12,250,000 release clause. Messy Hallow was rewarded after his splendid display for Vitoria this term by scoring 7 of his teams 9 goals in the Brazilian League. He was even part of the 2 other goals by assisting them. Vitoria, with only 9 goals scored, are placed in 10th place in the league, with 4 wins, 10 draws and 2 losses. Overall, he has scored 8 goals and has 3 assists. Next month, Messy Hallow will be making a trip with Brazil for the U-20 World Cup.

So next update will be a U-20 World Cup Special. So watch this space.

AUGUST Updates:

U-20 WORLD CUP SPECIAL

- Group Stage -

We will start the U-20 World Cup Review with the Group Stage. Group A saw Argentina finish in 2nd place behind Italy, tied on points with only the goal difference separating both teams. Unfortunately, Martin Batistuta didn't make the trip with Argentina to Turkey. But we will continue talking about Argentina as we move ahead with the review.

In Group C, Brazil finished 1st in the Group by winning the 3 matches they played. The first match saw Matthew Cameron score 2 goals in a span of 7 minutes, only to get injured 3 minutes later by tearing his groin muscle. It was an unfortunate turn of events for Cameron as he got off to a flying start. Valderrama was able to finish the job by scoring the following goal in the 5-0 win over Cote d'Ivoire. With Cameron out injured for 2 months, Valderrama took the torch by starting the next 2 matches and scoring a goal in each match. Kenrry was even able to collect 2 assists.

Staying in Group C, Uruguay were able to finish in 2nd place behind Brazil, losing only 1 game, against Brazil. For some reason, the Uruguayan Manager didn't take the on form, high scoring maching, Ignacio Ballena with him to the tournament.

Moving on to Group D, Colombia were only able to finish in 2nd place behind England. They did show others how to play some wonderful football. Especially Reginald Bottomtoucher Jr, who in a 5-0 win over Iran, ran the show in midfield and controlled the game as if it was his own puppet. Scoring 1 goal and assisting 3 others...all in the same game. To the team's demise, Bottomtoucher was injured in a match against England, where Colombia crumble the moment Reginald was stretched off.

- 2nd Round -
The 2nd Round saw all four South American teams win their matches, some easy, some not so easy.

First match to take place was between the hosts, Turkey and Brazil. Brazil ended up winning the match 1-0 with a Messy Hallow penalty kick after the restart. 2nd match was Spain vs Argentina, and again, the South American team won the match, 2-1. Colombia was the 3rd team to play, versus USA. Colombia won the match 2-1 in extra time. Reginald did make a return after his slight injury, by making an appearance in the 76th minute. The 4th and final match of the 2nd Round was between Uruguay and Tunisia. Uruguay won it in penalty kicks after the match ended 3-3. So all 4 South American nations made it to the Quarter Finals.

- 1/4 Finals -

In the Quarter Finals, Brazil were pitted against Germany as the first game of the 1/4 Finals stages. Brazil ended up winning it 2-1 in extra time. Both Messy Hallow and Valderrama made appearances in the match, but both couldn't produce much in the match. The second game saw Argentina beat England 3-1. It was no walk in the park though, Argentina went 1 goal down only to see Argentina score 3 goals in the second half to go to the semi-finals. In the final Quarter Finals match, it took place between Colombia and Uruguay. Colombia were able to beat them easy...3-1. Reginald Bottomtoucher Jr was even able to assist the first goal of the game, 5 minutes into the game. So semi finals it is for Colombia.

- 1/2 Finals -
It is no surprise that, with the talent coming from South America, to see 3 South American teams in the final 4.

The first semi-finals was between Brazil and France. The game was a tug of war between both nations. The game went to extra time, but not before Brazil got 3 of their players sent off before the end of full time. In extra time, the young French talent, Antar Makhlouf, put Brazil to the sword with 2 goals in 10 minutes to place France into the U-20 World Cup Finals.

The 2nd Semi-Finals placed Argentina against Colombia. Colombia came out flying out of the gates, scoring 2 goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. Argentina had their backs against the wall. But they fought back to draw 2-2 by the end of the game. Argentina went on to win it in Extra Time 4 minutes before the end.

- 3rd Place -
3rd Place match saw Brazil beat Reginald-less Colombia 3-0. Valderrama and Hallow again made appearances in the match and failed to create anything, but they would be proud to be part of the 3rd best U-20 nation of 2013.

- Finals -
Argentina vs France. The showdown of the U-20 World Cup. France controlled the game with 60% possession, but they weren't able to take advantage of it. Argentina though, were clinical on the counter and were able to score 2 quick goals, 4 minutes apart, right after the start of the 2nd half. The game ended 2-0 for Argentina to lift the U-20 World Cup. Its a shame that Martin Batistuta wasn't part of the team.

riverg.png

Martin Batistuta was busy making his way through the River Plate squad. The start of the season saw Batistuta make 2 appearances, scoring 1 goal and assisting another for the Youth Squad.
cruzeiron.png

Cruzeiro's Matthew Cameron got injured during the U-20 World Cup during the first match of the tournament. In which Cameron scored 2 goals at the start of the match before tearing his groin muscle. After getting back to Brazil, he was examined and is sidelined until October.
danubio.png

Danubio's Ignacio Ballena was gutted to miss the U-20 World Cup. The young Uruguayan has again, been scoring goals left and right. In 8 matches, he has scored 12 goals, assisted 1 and been named MotM on 2 seperate occasions. This fast start to the season has drawn major attention from Velez of the Argentinian League.

OTHER News:
Well lads, finally! More soon as usual. Hope you enjoyed it. All league will be in full swing next month.

Congrats to the Argentines but gutted about Columbia. Bottomtoucher sounds like he played amazing and they missed him when he wasnt there. Semis isnt bad but throwing away a two goal lead is!

Bolivian Football's Future
- The Exclusive Interview with Javier Squeekles -

It was a clod windy morning in Rosario. Located approximately 300km away from Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, is the biggest city in the Santa Fe province. A beautiful city to say the least with centuries of history, stitched through architecture, boasts 2 of Argentina's well known teams, Newell's Old Boys and Rosario Central.

We made our way to Rosario yesterday night to meet a Rosario Central young sensation, Javier Squeekles. Born in Sucre, Bolivia, Javier's mother is from Argentina, so it's it was only a matter of time that his career made its way through tango land. We met up with Squeekles in Parque Independencia for a stroll before we went for lunch at a nearby restaurant.

'I had a rather fortunate childhood.' reminisced Javier when asked about his youth growing up in Sucre, Bolivia. The country is overrun with poverty, one of the worst in the continent. 'Most kids...' continued the striker, '...don't get the opportunity to go to school. My father was from a powerful family , and when i was born we moved to a quieter region of Sucre to live a normal life.' Javier was able to go to school and raised as a normal kid in one of the worst places on earth, but he was too busy thinking of football through his teenage life. 'I was never really interested in schoolwork and only participated so i could play my beloved football.'

Javier took the opportunity to play football at any club that offered him a contract. To his luck, Rosario Central were looking for a young player to raise and hope to keep for the future. Sitting down for lunch in Ajoarriero Restaurant, Javier later admitted its his favorite joint for a bite. For Squeekles, it was a tough decision leaving his family, 'This was a tough decision for me , but i thought it would be better for my career if i moved to Argentina where the football league was established in the footballing world and of course , their famous Youth facilities and when Rosario got in contact with me , i jumped at the chance.'

Earlier this year, Javier Squeekles got his first crack at Bolivia's National Team. Even though he hadn't made many appearances for Rosario, the Bolivian Manager called Javier to take part of the team in a friendly. 'It was a very proud day for me and my family.' Javier started proudly. It was no question about who he would play for. Growing up in Bolivia, it was his first and only choice in his mind. 'I've always wanted to represent my beloved Bolivia at the highest level , but so early on in a stage , it was unexpected. I'm delighted to know that the coach has faith in me. Hopefully i can get more involved on the national side of football now.'

Asked about his future and what he where he would like to see himself as his career grows in stature. 'My long term aim is to get more first team football of course, but i am willing to wait for my chance, whether it be at Rosario or another club. I am very excited about my career.' With such talent for a young lad, it is only looking bright for the Bolivian. Many think that Javier Squeekles has the talent to surpass Marco Etcheverry, the player many Bolivians believe to be the best Bolivian player of all time.

Since his arrival to Argentina, the future of Bolivian football, Javier Squeekles, has been making waves around the country where he's started his young career. River Plate, at the time of our interview, were rumored to be after the him. 'River Plate was a club i supported as a young lad and i always had a place for them in my heart. When i first heard about their interest, i was very excited about the prospect of joining them.' The deal did come very close to coming through. Both teams were not able to come up with a mutual understanding and the deal fell through. 'As far as i know, the two clubs could not come to a mutual decision on a price for me. I have to say i am disappointed but i will continue to play my football here in Rosario as professionally as i can.' Javier was willing to move to a club as prestigious as River, but he knew that he would have to work hard.

Since our lovely, cold, day together, Javier Squeekles has been rising through the Bolivian National Team ranks faster than many had expected. In the following 2 months since, he has earned 3 more caps and has scored 1 goal. On the way, smashing the record for the Youngest Goalscorer for Bolivia's National team as well as becoming the youngest player to earn a cap for his national side.

Just last month, we learned the news that Javier has been transfered to Independiente de La Plata come January 2014. Spending the time with him, i can assure you that this young lad will be grabbing this opportunity to showcase how a young boy, with great aspiration, from a low level footballing country, can make it into the big leagues in South America. And maybe even one day, he can prove his skills and experience in Europe, the ultimate club football continent and every footballer's dream...

'I want to win the World Cup for Bolivia...' My do dreams run wild, i tought, as we sat there finishing our coffee while the sun sets on the horizon...

Yay. I actually got to play this time round instead of sitting in the shadow of Hulkster ;)

ripping it up at Danubio, Europe here we come!!
